Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

Mike kept hearing Kelly's voice in his head, repeating her dream over and over again.

The feeling of unease inside him kept growing as he stared at the warehouse.

It was a square, gray building in the middle of nowhere. It was near the harbor, but far from the city center—which was strange. A small trader wouldn't have a warehouse this far away. Usually, they kept small storage places close to their shops to avoid transport costs.

Something wasn't right.

Mike wanted to trust Samantha. He really did.

But something inside him told him not to.

In the end, he decided to act like realistic and not someone blinded by feelings.

He felt guilty.

Maybe Samantha had done nothing wrong.

But he made his decision.

He walked toward Kelly.

"Kelly…"

"Uh… what is it?"

"I need you to do me a favor. Can you?"

"Y-yes…"

The plan was the same as always.

Samantha climbed up to a window and disabled the alarm. The others followed behind her.

But the moment Mike stepped inside…

He froze.

The warehouse was empty.

"Samantha?"

She turned and look at him.

"What is it?"

"Where is the food?"

For a moment, she looked surprised.

No… she was afraid.

Her face had gone pale as she tried to think of something to say.

"It's in another room… This warehouse is new. They haven't filled it yet."

"Then let's go to the other room."

Mike started walking toward the door—

But suddenly, Samantha grabbed his arm.

He turned back.

"What's wrong? Why are you stopping me?"

"I… I want you to trust me…"

Mike pulled his hand away.

"Samantha… what did you do?"

Samantha's expression changed.

For the first time, Mike saw pure hatred on someone's face and that scared him.

"I told you… I would do anything to get my revenge."

With those words, she pressed a button on a small device in her hand.

"RUN!"

Mike shouted.

He ran immediately, and the others followed—even though they didn't fully understand what was happening.

"There's another exit that way!"

Earlier, Mike had asked Kelly to unlock the back door of the warehouse—and to stop some people from climbing through the window.

While the ones inside escaped, the others who had stayed behind would go warn the slaves at the abandoned building.

Soldiers had already surrounded the warehouse.

Gunfire erupted.

Some slaves were shot. Others were captured.

Mike and a few others managed to escape and ran outside, where Kelly was waiting for them.

"This way!" she shouted, pointing ahead.

She led them to a stolen military truck.

It seemed she and the others had taken it while they were waiting.

They jumped inside as fast as they could, and the truck sped off.

But soon…

Other vehicles started chasing them.

"Turn in there!"

"What?!"

"Just do it...NOW!"

The driver quickly turned toward a construction site.

"Stop!"

The truck stopped, and everyone jumped out.

Kelly grabbed some tools nearby and rushed to the truck.

"What are you doing?"

Mike asked.

"When I was a slave, I worked in a sector that built trucks like these,"

Kelly said quietly.

"They're electric… If you mess with them enough, they can turn into bombs."

Mike understood what she was planning.

So he let her continue.

"I'm done! Run! Get as far away as you can and hide!"

Everyone ran and hid far from the truck.

Moments later, the soldiers arrived.

They got out of their vehicles and began searching the area.

One of them approached the truck and then...

BOOM.

The explosion tore through the air.

Fire and smoke were everywhere.

Mike didn't wait.

He and the others knew this was their only chance to escape.

So they ran as fast as they could.
