Adrian was in his room when the royal bell began ringing across the capital. The deep sound echoed through the city, reaching every corner of Lycoria.
The moment he heard it, he already knew it could only mean one of two things. Either his father had finally died and the kingdom was about to announce it, or something else important had happened.
His lips slowly curled into a smile.
If his father was truly dead, then he would celebrate with all his heart.
It would mean that everything he had done had not been in vain, that the poison had worked and gbsg would mean Enzo's succession could no longer go on as planned.
His heart beat a little faster at the thought.
"Maxim," Adrian called.
The knight, who had been standing outside the room, entered immediately and bowed.
"Your Highness."
"Go and find out what is happening. I want to know why the bell was rung."
Maxim nodded without asking any questions.
"At once, Your Highness."
He turned and hurried out of the manor.
