Chapter 32 - Falcon and the ghost of Lucien

Falcon stood there for several quiet minutes beneath the flickering streetlight, the cold night wind brushing against his coat while Destene remained fast asleep on the bench completely unaware of everything happening around her. He could have woken her up immediately if he wanted to. A simple shake to the shoulder would have been enough.

But strangely…

He didn't.

Instead, his sharp gaze lingered on her exhausted face for a brief moment before he finally exhaled softly through his nose, almost annoyed by the situation itself.

The town had already gone silent for the night. Most of the stores were closed, the roads nearly empty except for the occasional passing truck in the distance, and the temperature kept dropping by the minute. Leaving her there alone in that condition was dangerous even by normal standards, let alone with an injured ankle.

Without another word, Falcon bent slightly before lifting her carefully onto his back.
