Chapter 5
As Pakura began to feel sick and her body began to burn she glanced up at the elder for help.
But Ryu didn't move to help her. Neither did the others. Her stomach twisted violently, her limbs felt heavy.
"Old man…" Pakura choked.
Ryu's expression didn't change, no concern or even surprise. Only acceptance, "I'm sorry," Ryu said quietly. Her heart skipped, he was sorry?. Her vision blurred and her chakra became harder and harder to use.
The others wouldn't meet her eyes. She stared at them, even though moving hurt her fists still clenched so tightly her knuckles were white.
"Why…" She rasped.
He sighed, "Because you were too strong, you killed too many mist ninjas. You need to die so peace can be held. You are a weapon and now you are being reforged, be happy that you can still help your village even in death." the words of betrayal carved into her chest.
A tool to be discarded. Those words hit harder than any blade or jutsu. Without a second thought she instantly rushed out of the tent. Although every move hurt she was still a kage level combatant even if she was one of the weaker ones. She still was strong enough to escape.
Well at least that's what she thought, but as she leapt up into the surrounding tree and launched off. But each leap was weaker and slower than the last, tears blurred her vision. Tears of hatred, betrayal, or sadness even she didn't know.
She looked back to see some anbu racing after her, while the others stayed in the tent, they didn't even give her the light of day knowing she had no way out.
"I'll kill you all" she thought even though deep down she couldn't figure out how she could live through this.
Just as they began to close in she heard a couple thuds, she looked back in her blurry vision and she wasn't sure what she was seeing but it looked like the anbu was gone
"AHH" she cried out in worry. Just then she felt herself get picked up, she wanted to resist or escape but she was too weak, then a voice rang out. "Don't worry i am not your enemy, if i wanted you dead you would be".
The voice sounded young but she was so tired she couldn't even tell, he jumped off the tree and set her down and as she felt his hand touch her chest she felt the cool soothing feeling of healing chakra, "He's really saving me" she thought surprised. But as she looked up she could begin to make out the red glow in his eyes, The sharingan, she thought worriedly. But before she could comment she passed out from fatigue.
Roku glanced down at the girl and looked back at the camp in the distance, "Should I? If get some of her blood i and make it seem like a final suicide attack i might be able to fake her death…"
He then shook his head, "Nah i'll let her get her own revenge." he smiled at the thought.
He then laughed, "And let the Sand freak out about a kage level rouge with a grudge"
Random Cave
Drip. Drip. Drip. The steady sound of water dropping echoed throughout the darkness and bounced off the walls.
Pakura's unconscious body began to stir, her body felt heavy. Every breath burned her lungs, but the pain was much smaller than when she was poisoned. It was dulled now it had become manageable. She then tried to open her eyes, and as she opened them her vision was blurred and then began to clear.
The first things she noticed was the bright light of fire and the shadows that it created blanketing the walls.
A dirty cave. She glanced up, the ceiling above her was uneven, jagged as a show She moved, or well she tried to. Her muscles trembled and pain shot through her limbs.
Her eyes shifted around the cave, but when she saw him she froze.
She noticed a young man sitting not too far away. He was sitting in front of the fire, he wasn't even facing her, all she could make out was his small back and his jet black hair. Over the fire sat a small cast iron pot, he was slowly stirring it.
The smell soon reached her then. It had a nice garlicky smell. The sound of her stomach growling loudly shot all throughout the save. Causing her to blush embarrassedly .
He smiled in amusement, "You're awake." He spoke up in a jovial tone. His voice sounded young, way too young .
He turned his head over his shoulder. His black eyes met her own, before she could comment he smiled and spoke up. "The poison you had was annoyingly hard to heal, I couldn't completely fix you but I did enough to where all you need is to rest for a week, give or take a day."
Her body tensed instantly, that's right the poison her memories rushed back. The village's betrayal. The poison, the insults, the pain her body felt. Then she remembered the last red eyes, The Sharingan!
Her expression hardened. "But why did you save me? The sand and leaf are allies, saving me could jeopardize that. No, wait how did you even know I was in danger?" she asked warily.
The boy turned back to the soup in the pot. "You need rest, don't get worked up and worsen your injuries," he told her.
Her expression turned wary. "Answer my questions!" she demanded. He stayed silent for a minute.
The silence was only broken by the soft sound of nature echoing throughout the cave. He continued to stir the pot, while Pakura grew impatient.
After a while he spoke up. "A little birdy told me." He told her amused. She blinked confusedly. "What?"
He smiled and shook his head "Sorry a joke you wouldn't get. I have a large number of raven summons stationed across the elemental nations. They observe and they report information to me". he explained.
Her eyes narrowed, spying summon beasts weren't rare but if he was telling the truth such a large number was worrying.
But before she could question him he continued, "One of them reported an interesting sight. A Kage-level kunoichi fleeing her own village's assassins."
He glanced back at her and smiled teasingly. "It caught my interest, I could just let such a weeeaaak girl get hurt. And i was already by the mist border on a mission so i checked it out"
Her fists clenched angrily he had stretched out the word weak just to annoy her. "You still haven't answered my question," she said,
Suppressing her annoyance she continued, "So why did you save me?" she asked finally.
Again he didn't answer and just turned back towards his pot.
