Because my life depends on this too." She stepped closer, her eyes glowing with a faint light.
"Now, stand up. The sprint wasn't the workout. It was the warm-up. We're going to do those forms again, right here, in the dirt. And if you miss a beat this time, I'll give you a reason to actually bleed."
I force myself upright, my muscles trembling.
"Again," she commands, raising her arms.
This time, as I mirror her movements, I don't focus on getting it right. I focus on how good it would really feel to become as strong as a shifter.
Freye's lips curl into a small, warm smile of approval. "Better. Perhaps there's a drop of wolf in you after all."
