The creature stepped forward, moonlight catching its matted grey hide and baring teeth the size of daggers.
"If you can't fight, then get the fuck up and run. Your imagination might not do this moment justice, but your fear will certainly kill you. You have no reason to die here." Freye says as she draws her sword toward the monster.
I tear through the forest, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. The sharp, skeletal fingers of the trees claw at my skin as I dive deeper into the dark.
I can hear the rhythmic thud of boots vibrating across the ground — multiple sets, closing in.
"She's headed that way. We must find her alive. She can't hear, so use that to your advantage." The leading voice instructs.
The monster isn't the only thing in these woods. Freye is occupied with the beast, leaving me to the mercy of those who have likely summoned it.
