Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Two-on-Two Spirit Arena Match — The Luan and Pagoda Combination

"You can stay by our side, but let's make this clear first, everything must follow my command. Can you do that?"

If the rules were not established in advance, given Ning Rongrong's temperament, there was no telling how much trouble she might cause.

Ning Rongrong nodded repeatedly like a pecking chick, agreeing without hesitation.

"Alright. We'll be competing at the Suotuo Grand Spirit Arena during this period. Do you want to join us?" Wu Qi asked.

With Ning Rongrong by his side, she could help block some of the overly enthusiastic female fans.

After all, those fans looked at him like hungry wolves. He truly could not handle them alone.

Ning Rongrong nodded first, then asked in confusion, "Brother Wu Qi, weren't you here to carry out the Crown Prince's task? Could it be that your task is training?"

"You could say that." Wu Qi responded as he stood and walked forward. "Let's eat first. We still have a Spirit Arena match tonight. We can't compete on an empty stomach."

Ning Rongrong soon completed the registration for her Spirit Arena badge. As a support-type Spirit Master, she could not participate in one-on-one matches. To raise her badge Level, she could only take part in two-on-two or team matches.

For Ning Rongrong, increasing her Spirit Arena badge Level was not part of her training objective. Whether she competed immediately was not something Wu Qi insisted upon.

"Brother Wu Qi, can Rongrong form a team with you?" Ning Rongrong blinked, clearly hoping for the answer she wanted.

Both Ning Rongrong and Chang Kong were Spirit Grandmasters. Logically, the two of them would be the most suitable pairing.

However, considering their relationship, Wu Qi abandoned that idea.

With the enhancement from his external Spirit Bone, his speed was already sufficient, but his attack power was still lacking.

Ning Rongrong's first Spirit Ring ability provided a 30% strength boost, which would greatly benefit him.

With that in mind, he agreed to her request.

As for the team name, he did not care. Ning Rongrong chose freely and eventually came up with a name full of girlish charm, Warm Little Nest.

Two-on-two matches at the Grand Spirit Arena were usually scheduled around 7–9 PM. Wu Qi and Chang Kong first participated in their respective one-on-one matches.

At present, neither of them had accumulated many consecutive wins in one-on-one matches. Their opponents were quite average in strength, and they did not consume much Spirit Power.

An hour and a half later, when the Spirit Arena announcement sounded, Wu Qi remained unmoved.

Ning Rongrong poked his arm. "Brother Wu Qi, the announcement called our team name. Are we up?"

"Hm?" Wu Qi was confused.

After Ning Rongrong explained, he finally realized that Warm Little Nest was their team name.

The name was so embarrassing it felt like one could dig out a three-bedroom house with their toes.

With the match about to begin, there was no time to change the team name. In order not to lose points for nothing, Wu Qi could only brace himself and step onto the platform.

In the audience stands, the spectators were already discussing it.

"Warm Little Nest? That sounds like a girls' team, and probably young girls at that."

"Since when did the Spirit Elder division have girls with such talent?"

Wu Qi and Ning Rongrong's two-on-two team had just been formed, and those "enthusiastic fans" were unaware of it. As a result, no one in the audience recognized him.

Moreover, Wu Qi's reputation was mainly known among certain noble young ladies. With his current winning record, it was not enough to attract widespread attention.

Fortunately, that was the case.

Otherwise, this would have been far too embarrassing.

On the platform, the two brothers of the Mad Bear Combination revealed unrestrained smiles when they saw Wu Qi and Ning Rongrong step up.

The brothers had assumed that some grown man had deliberately chosen such a ridiculous team name to hide his true strength.

They had not expected Wu Qi and Ning Rongrong to actually be inexperienced youths.

The younger brother, Xiong Er, laughed loudly. "Hey little girl, why don't you come warm me up?"

"You!" Ning Rongrong was furious and pointed at him angrily.

At the same time, boos echoed throughout the audience.

With such a childish team name and their youthful appearance, was there even any suspense in this match?

In contrast, the Mad Bear Combination had already achieved six consecutive victories in two-on-two Spirit Arena matches.

It was easy to imagine that once this match ended, regardless of the outcome, it would become a hot topic of discussion.

Wu Qi frowned and said coldly, "Strength will decide."

Xiong Da sneered. "As you wish."

Xiong Er scoffed. "If you admit defeat now, you might avoid some pain."

"At your age, being a Spirit Elder and a Spirit Grandmaster, you must be from some large family. If you get hurt, I hope your elders won't blame us."

His words did not mean he truly feared their backgrounds. Rather, he intended to provoke Wu Qi and Ning Rongrong so they would reveal flaws during the match.

Wu Qi understood his intention and ignored him.

Ning Rongrong, however, was enraged. "Say that again and I'll tear your mouth apart!"

Xiong Er replied mockingly, "Oh, I'm so scared."

Below the platform, even the referee did not think highly of Wu Qi's team.

Seeing their youth and hoping to spare them further verbal harassment, the referee immediately announced the start of the match.

According to their pre-match plan, Ning Rongrong stood at the edge of the platform.

Bringing a support-type Spirit Master into a two-on-two match was already a disadvantage. If Wu Qi had to constantly worry about Ning Rongrong's safety, the match would be impossible to fight.

Therefore, having Ning Rongrong remain at the edge of the platform, ready to step out of bounds to protect herself if necessary, was a reasonable strategy.

"Brother Wu Qi, tear that guy's mouth apart."

Ning Rongrong said fiercely before releasing her Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda Spirit. Two yellow Spirit Rings rose beneath her feet.

"Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda!" Xiong Da immediately recognized her Spirit.

Ning Rongrong lifted her chin proudly.

Xiong Da sneered inwardly.

When disciples of large families entered the Grand Spirit Arena for training, as long as they did not die on the platform (except in life-and-death matches), their families generally would not pursue the matter over injuries.

The Mad Bear Combination's objective was simply to win. Since Ning Rongrong was a support-type Spirit Master, all they needed to do was defeat Wu Qi. Victory would follow automatically.

"Bringing a support-type Spirit Master into a two-on-two match? Arrogant."

Xiong Da snorted and, together with Xiong Er, released their Spirits.

Both brothers possessed the Mad Bear Spirit. Their Spirit Power Levels were thirty-seven and thirty-two respectively.

Xiong Da did not have the optimal Spirit Ring configuration, possessing three yellow Spirit Rings. Xiong Er's configuration was yellow, yellow, purple.

Clearly, the brothers were very close. The elder had begun cultivating as a Spirit Master first and, after gaining sufficient strength, had helped protect and support his younger brother.

Realizing this, Wu Qi's eyes sharpened.

He had already determined the best tactic to defeat them.

As the referee struck the gong, the match officially began.

"Seven Treasures turn with Glazed Light—Seven Treasures have names: first, Strength; second, Speed!"

Ning Rongrong had only one task to continuously enhance Wu Qi.

Feeling his strength and speed increase by thirty percent, Wu Qi could not help but reflect.

For ordinary support-type Spirits, if their first and second Spirit Ring abilities could provide more than a fifteen percent enhancement, they would already be considered exceptional.

Yet the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda Spirit's enhancement percentage increased along with the user's cultivation Level, making it one of the most powerful support Martial Spirits on the continent.
