Chapter 84:
Yang Jian looked the woman up and down.
The woman stood with her hands clasped together. Even her exquisite makeup couldn't hide the dark circles under her eyes.
"Please save my daughter! Name any price! Five million? Ten million? Or…"
She bit her lip. "Any other condition is fine."
This statement actually piqued Yang Jian's interest.
He crossed his arms and smiled: "Tell me, what happened to your daughter?"
Elizabeth Carter's eyes lit up. She spoke rapidly.
"Ever since she played a séance game at a classmate's house three months ago, my daughter Emma has been like a different person. She speaks in voices that aren't hers at night, and the dolls in her bedroom move by themselves."
Her fingers gripped the strap of her bag tightly. "Last week it got even worse. She… she was floating against the ceiling, smiling at me!"
By the last few words, her voice had begun to crack with sobs.
Yang Jian nodded. A trace of red light flashed in his eyes. Super vision instantly scanned the entire city.
"Your house is that white villa on Fifth Avenue? There really is abnormal energy in the second-floor bedroom."
Elizabeth covered her mouth in shock: "How did you know?"
"That's not important."
He suddenly leaned closer, staring into Elizabeth's eyes.
"I'm curious — why do you think I can solve this… supernatural problem?"
Elizabeth pointed firmly toward the street corner.
"Because of those gang members who suddenly collapsed just now. Normal people can't do that."
"OK, let's go." Yang Jian straightened up and snapped his fingers.
This woman had good eyesight — and quite the guts.
Elizabeth's face brightened. She quickly unlocked her sports car. The doors rose upward like wings.
"Sir, please get in quickly!" she called, a little anxiously.
Yang Jian calmly sat in the passenger seat. The leather seat automatically adjusted to perfectly fit his body.
The sports car's engine let out a low roar. The tires screeched against the ground as the car launched forward.
"Sir, please fasten your seatbelt."
Elizabeth reminded him as she slammed on the accelerator.
The car shot forward. The streets were empty after the recent shootout.
Yang Jian's fingers tapped lightly on the door handle: "Keep telling me about your daughter's situation."
Elizabeth was momentarily stunned, then gripped the steering wheel tightly, her voice slightly trembling.
"At first it was just small abnormalities. Her toys would move by themselves. But in the last two weeks, she started speaking in completely unfamiliar voices. Sometimes her whole face would twist."
Yang Jian listened silently to Elizabeth's story, occasionally responding with a word or two to give this terrified mother some reassurance.
"Last time was the night before yesterday." Elizabeth's voice suddenly dropped.
"I heard her talking to someone in her bedroom, but there was only her in the room. When I pushed the door open…"
Her voice choked. "I saw her playing chess with the air, and the chess pieces were floating."
Elizabeth continued. Yang Jian responded from time to time, giving the woman, who was frightened for her daughter, a little comfort.
As the sports car sped on, they drew closer to Elizabeth's home.
Yang Jian's gaze pierced the night, locking onto a white mansion on a distant hillside.
His magical perception clearly captured the dark energy swirling there, like a dirty fog enveloping the entire building.
It looked like demonic possession — a classic American horror trope.
Soon
The sports car executed a beautiful drift and stopped in front of the villa, the tires precisely lining up with the edge of the gravel driveway.
At that moment
A window on the second floor of the villa suddenly opened by itself. A little girl in a white nightgown was lying on the windowsill, smiling eerily at the night sky.
Her shadow stretched abnormally long under the moonlight, with sharp, inhuman contours.
And below
Elizabeth quickly got out of the car and walked ahead of Yang Jian, still muttering as she went. "My daughter has really been too abnormal lately."
Yang Jian followed behind her, saying nothing, simply observing the house.
Aside from that clump of dark energy, there was nothing unusual. It seemed the problem was with the girl herself.
Elizabeth had already taken out her keys to open the door. There was no one inside the villa, but the house was large and luxuriously decorated.
She noticed Yang Jian's gaze and explained awkwardly: "Because of my daughter's condition, all the servants have left. They couldn't stand it."
Yang Jian nodded: "It's fine. Let's go see your daughter."
A house with a demon — it would be strange if anyone still lived there.
Elizabeth hurriedly led the way. The two walked up the stairs.
She was still chattering about her daughter's situation.
"Sir, if you can solve this, it would be wonderful. I'm really tired of living in constant fear."
Yang Jian followed silently behind her, his tone calm: "No need to rush."
Soon, they reached a bedroom door.
Elizabeth stopped, her voice slightly trembling: "This is my daughter's room. She's inside."
Yang Jian nodded, signaling her to open the door.
She inserted the key and turned the lock.
Click.
The moment the door opened, a bone-chilling cold swept out.
The room was pitch black. Only faint moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains.
On the bed, a girl sat quietly, wearing a eerie smile.
"Mommy," the girl spoke softly, but her voice carried a hoarseness that didn't belong to a child.
"You came to see me?"
Elizabeth retreated half a step in fright, her face pale.
Yang Jian stood beside her. Super vision mixed with magic allowed him to see through the girl's disguise.
Inside her body, a woman with a twisted face was coldly staring at them.
Yang Jian deactivated his super vision. The girl was indeed possessed, but he had to admit — these things were really ugly.
Elizabeth looked at him nervously: "Sir, is there a way to solve this?"
Yang Jian nodded, giving her a reassuring look: "It's very simple."
Elizabeth's eyes lit up. Her daughter's condition could finally be resolved!
"Can we start now? Do we need to prepare a cross or anything?"
Yang Jian shook his head. As a magical Superman, he didn't need those things.
"No need. Just watch."
He stepped into the room, walked to the bedside, and met the girl's gaze — which was also the gaze of the demon inside her.
The demon was now baring its teeth at him, looking terrifying.
"Will you come out yourself," Yang Jian smiled,
"or should I invite you out?"
The girl's expression instantly became vicious. Her voice turned shrill.
"Her life must be mine! You can't stop me! You worthless exorcist!"
Yang Jian laughed. Good — you asked for this.
He lowered his head and said to the girl: "This might hurt a bit. Bear with it."
The girl froze, not yet reacting.
Smack!
Yang Jian slapped her across the face. Golden energy instantly burned the female ghost's soul.
"Ah!!"
The girl let out a shrill scream. "Fuck!"
Yang Jian was even happier. He backhanded her again.
Smack!
Black smoke rose from the girl's face as she screamed once more.
