Asher's eyes followed Xavier until he saw him stop where Zander and the others were gathered.
"Where is Harlan?" Xavier asked.
The question immediately drew everyone's attention.
Something was wrong.
The man who had been relatively calm moments ago now looked like a storm barely holding itself together.
Cassandra stepped forward, concern written all over her face.
"Xavier, what's—"
"Stay where you are," Xavier cut in sharply. "I'll handle it myself. I don't need your help."
The words stunned everyone.
Even Cassandra froze.
Zander's stomach dropped.
Had he done something wrong?
Had his little plan somehow ruined whatever progress Xavier and Asher had made?
"He passed through here a few minutes ago," Levi finally answered. "I think he went toward the kitchen."
Xavier didn't waste another second.
He turned and strode away.
His pace was fast enough to make the maids he questioned stumble over their words as he demanded Harlan's whereabouts.
Eventually, he found him.
