Jenna had gotten the information she needed, she stepped out of the café.
However, the aroma of noodles and snacks had made her feel hungry.
It was the first time in weeks that she felt her stomach growl.
Most of the time, she ate in the space with her siblings. Other times, she went a day or two without food.
It was a habit she subconsciously cultivated in her previous life, when her uncle's wife used starvation as a punishment.
That habit, to go a day or two without food, had helped her survive in the apocalypse.
Food was a luxury people like her couldn't afford back then.
And now, the habit of forgetting to eat had followed her into this lifetime like a shadow she couldn't shake off.
With no time to waste visiting restaurants, Jenna stopped by a roadside snack vendor, grabbed a few packs of biscuits and cupcakes and bottled water.
But before heading back to her car, she asked the vendor what was happening in the city.
