Chapter 10 - Silk Ambush

SCREECH!!!

SLASH!

[Level Up!]

Mira moved through the hordes of spiders, her [Claws Of Despair] tearing through their flesh easily as she fought, her figure a blur of speed and power. The spiders continued their assault, firing silky threads that threatened to bind her down.

'Shit!' Mira cursed inwardly, narrowly dodging a thread aimed at her head, her eyes following the long line of silver for a moment before delivering a brutal kick to the spider's head, blowing it clean off.

'These guys have relatively weak defense, but what's most tricky about them is the unique property in their threads.' Mira analyzed, glancing over to a large rock covered in spider silk, the large chunk of earth melting away from the silk's acid, a large chill running down her spine.

She swiftly dodged another one of the spider's attack, leaping up on a tree branch to better survey her enemies from her height. They were many in number, and this wasn't a fight she could win just from cutting through them, as she had to remember to be wise with her Mana, as her [Claws Of Despair] Skill steadily drained Mana the longer it was active.

'Do I run? That would seem like the most logical path..' Mira thought, swiftly dodging another array of attacks aimed her way as she lept on another branch, her movements swift and agile, watching as a good chunk of the tree was starting to dissolve from the sheer amount of acidic silk, its giant form cranking before collapsing to the ground in a thunderous thud that shook the ground.

[MP: 48/170]

"Damn it, My Mana won't last long. I need to turn this skill off for now." Mira muttered under her breath, clenching her teeth in urgency as she deactivated the skill, the bright claws of Mana disappearing from her hands, the air far more tense.

Mira descended from the tree with a powerful downward kick to the ground, splitting a Cursed Spider in two and splattering its guts and organs everywhere in a grotesque sight.

A large clout of dust spread across the area from the force of Mira's attack, creating a small, but brief veil of cover for her. That combined with the thick fog surrounding the dungeon made it nearly impossible for the Cursed Spiders to detect her, as she had effectively disappeared. !!

"Haaaa!"

BAAAAM!

CRUNCH!

SCREECH!

The sounds of spider's screeching in agony echoed throughout the silent forest, the dust cloud making it impossible to keep track of what was happening, but the bright flashes of Mira's [Claws Of Despair] Skill gave away her position for a split moment, before she would split the ground and disappear again.

'I didn't think that this would work, but they can't seem to sense me the moment I cover the air up with dust. My sense stat is higher now, and while its a bit difficult, I can still unmask their presence through this thick fog.' Mira thought, a small grin on her face as she appeared behind another Cursed Spider, flicking her wrist in a quick motion before activating her [Claws Of Despair] Skill, and annihilating the beast in one swift blow.

SCREECH!!

The sudden screech of a Cursed Spider caught Mira off guard, as she swiftly turned around to see a large thread of silk being blasted towards her. She quickly did her best to avoid the attack, but was suddenly hit with a massive pain that hilted her body in place, her eyes widening in shock and discomfort.

'Damn! My fatigue!'

[Fatigue: 81]

The luminescent panel displayed a bright red over the words, her stamina drawing to its limit. She had hoped that she would be able to utilize this method and wipe them all out efficiently, but she couldn't have guessed that one of them would've been able to see her through the makeshift smokescreen!

The large thread of silk scratched Mira's cheek, the fat threads surprisingly sharp and durable as it managed to cut through her flesh, a pained grunt leaving her throat.

[HP: 105/240]

'I took quite a bit of damage from that one attack, even though it just barely managed to scratch my cheek. Just how sharp is that stuff?' She wondered, placing her hand on the cut wound.

A sudden flare in her skin caught her off guard as she began to screen in agony, the acidic effects from the monster's silk starting to burn her flesh as she dropped to one knee, her face flaming up from the devastating, and agonizing scorch.

'It hurts! It hurts so much!!!' Mira gritted her teeth, her frantic and panicked eyes darting over her cheek, where a nasty burn wound that reeked of scorched flesh sizzled on her face with the acid, her breaths coming in short bursts, her mind flooded with adrenaline and panic.

[HP: 85/240]

'M...my face....its ruined!' Mira thought inwardly, not even caring for the outrageous amount of burn damage her health suffered, she was the epitome of beauty, but now that value had been tarnished in an unforgivable way.

But before she could retaliate, her eyes widened as she realized that the dust clouds around her had vanished and that she was surrounded from by the Cursed Spiders, a surge of panic flooding her system as she was rained down upon with spider silk, her cries of agony echoing out throughout the silent forest.

"Haaa....haa....haaaa..." Mira panted, a steamy smoke emitting from the burned parts of her body, her clothes torn and stained red by her blood, her eyes full of anger and hatred as she glared at the monsters, slowly standing up from her kneeling position, the spider silk tied to her body stretching to try and keep her pinned down.

"Now you bastards have really done it." Mira said, glancing down at her bleeding, burned, and utterly ruined self.

"I was planning on saving this for emergencies, but I guess I had no choice."

 "System, accept Status Recovery."
