Chapter 12 - Preparing For The Dungeon Boss

"Grave Robber? What is this?" Mira asked herself, raising a brow in shock and awe. She had just received her very first title, a sense of joy and accomplishment building up in her chest as a delighted smile bloomed on her face, her eyes shining like stars as she read the description.

'I can't believe I got my first Title!!!' She screamed inside her mind, noting that it was too dangerous to do it in the forest as it could attract more monsters towards her, and she didn't want to go through another near death experience. The dungeon break already left her more than traumatized.

'A 40% damage increase to undead enemies? That's really strong no?' She glanced at her hand, picturing her [Claws Of Despair] Skill tearing through waves of Skeletons way more easily. The effect was definitely powerful, as it would make this dungeon practically a cake walk for her.

But that was also a problem, it could only apply to dungeons similar to this one.

'The drop rate effects are great too, but the problem lies in when I could ever use this Title to its maximum efficiency. Undead-Type dungeons are rare in itself, and no less dangerous. So I won't really get much use out of this Title, so I wonder why I got it..'

Mira placed a finger on her temple, taking a long pause as she wracked her brain for clues.

'Could the system be trying to have me prepare?' Her eyes widened at the thought, shifting in her position slightly to accommodate the possibility.

Usually the system would try to arm her with tools to help keep the Player/Vessel safe, like when she received a weapon, and [Bandages] to recover her health in case her health got low.

Knowing that Undead Dungeons are very rare, and she so happened to be while receiving the title, it could be a sign for her to prepare as the Dungeon Boss could be stronger than what she had been facing so far.

Or at least that's what she theorized in her head.

'Do I really have what it takes to face the Dungeon Boss as I am right now?' A flicker of doubt crossed her features, her eyes twitching nervously at the thought of fighting the Dungeon Boss with what she had now.

She had no weapon to work with, a single armor piece that while it helped significantly, wouldn't be useful if she didn't have more means to protect herself.

And while [Claws Of Despair] was a powerful Skill, its relied on Mana and could run out during the Boss fight, leaving her with no option to attack.

"Alright, looks like its time to prepare first." Mira said with a grunt, rising to her feet from the tree she was resting on.

"I could use this as a good time to gain experience while I'm at it."

Mira closed her eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath as she concentrated on her surroundings. She was trying to sense for the Boss's presence, as she wasn't just going to stumble upon in this wide and vast forest by accident.

Her sense stat had greatly improved compared to when she first entered, so her ability to sense things were heightened greatly too.

She could hear the sounds of Skeletons and Cursed Spiders wandering around, see their forms just from the vibrations in the air, and gauge their strength as well.

'!!!!'

Mira's eyes opened wide with shock as a strong electric current hit her body at once, causing her to flinch and break a nervous sweat as she finally pin-pointed the Boss's location, sensing a powerful and dark presence that screamed danger.

"Damn...even though I'm so far away, its presence made me feel scared, like I might not not come out alive if I were to face it head on.' She reflected, feeling her hands tremble as she gazed at them in surprise, feeling the fear of death crawling on her skin and up her spine.

'I've never felt like this before, not even after the Dungeon Break that almost took my life.'

Mira steeled her resolve, slapping her cheeks to get herself out of her own negative thoughts and regain some composure. Now was not the time to worry about whether or not she could face off against the Boss, she needed to hunt, and hunt she would do.

As in the next moments that followed, Mira went around slaughtering every monster she could find. Cursed Skeletons, Cursed Spiders, Zombies, and even some large Mutated Bats that gave her a bit of a challenge, but she fought through them all, determined to grow stronger and secure every bit of strength she could possible.

"Oh?" Mira thought out loud, sidestepping to the side with fast reflexes as she avoided a strike from a Cursed Skeleton, swiftly retaliating with a powerful punch to the monster's ribs, sending it crashing into a pile of bones, immediately defeated.

"That didn't take too long, and it's D-Rank too. I'll have to check it out after I've hunted a bit more."

Mira said, dashing towards a Zombie before delivering a hot smoking blow to it's face, dealing significant damage that made the beast stagger back, before following up with more strikes to its body before delivering the final blow. Killing it.

"I've been fighting with my bare hands to conserve as much Mana as possible, but damn that doesn't hold up too well in the end. Ouch!" Mira said, glancing at her knuckles as she started to see how bruised they were starting to become. They weren't bleeding, atleast not yet, due to her getting stronger and more durable with every level she was gaining.

But she knew that if she continued for longer periods of time, she was going to have to go back to using Mana to deal with the monsters, unless of course the monsters dropped her a weapon soon.

But only time will tell.
