Chapter 154
A Genius Scheme
Only moments earlier, Arthur had released "Wrath" with complete subtlety, without anyone noticing, positioning it silently behind the Seventh Elder. From the very beginning of the battle, Arthur had not used his trump card; he was not the kind of person who revealed his fangs too early. He waited… and kept waiting until the perfect moment arrived.
When the Seventh Elder began gathering his energy in preparation to blow up everything around him without harming himself, Wrath had already moved. It pierced through the Seventh Elder's body without him sensing anything, then began absorbing that overwhelming energy in its entirety.
Wrath functioned as a perfect conduit, like a delicate and flawless tube, drawing energy from deep within the Seventh Elder and transferring it directly into the preservation vial inside the storage. Meanwhile, Arthur stood openly in plain sight, appearing powerless, resisting helplessly. Yet the truth was entirely different; everything unfolding was proceeding exactly according to his calculations.
Arthur knew Zhuo Fan and Xie Tianyang would flee. He also knew they would forget Ning'er.
Just moments earlier, Zhuo Fan had suffered a severe injury to his chest after the Seventh Elder pierced his Spirit Infant, while Xie Tianyang had also received a heavy blow. At that point, only one option remained before them: escape.
Arthur had understood all of this beforehand.
No matter how righteous or honorable Zhuo Fan might appear, he was ultimately an ancient demon. And even though the agreement between him, Arthur, and Ning'er was to get her out of the city, Zhuo Fan, from his own perspective, would not hesitate to carry out her charred corpse if necessary; in his mind, even that would count as fulfilling the agreement.
With his deep understanding of these truths, Arthur arrived at a single plan. A plan that appeared to others as self-sacrifice for everyone's sake, but in reality, it was for one thing only… the Seventh Elder's energy.
Arthur raised his hand, a faint smile on his face, and began draining the Seventh Elder's power. But at that exact moment, a destructive pressure descended upon Beast Mountain with terrifying force.
A blue aura… pure, beautiful, and majestic to a horrifying degree.
The forest shook violently, and everything around them trembled. While Arthur's attention was momentarily distracted, the Seventh Elder slammed the ground forcefully and fled at maximum speed.
Arthur did not care much about his escape. True, he had not drained all of the Seventh Elder's power, but he had at least absorbed the energy the old man had intended to use to annihilate everyone. And that energy was purer than anything imaginable; pure and immensely powerful. That alone was an enormous gain.
Yet those thoughts soon slipped from Arthur's mind like water, and only one thing remained occupying his thoughts.
"What is this?"
Arthur focused his gaze upon that pure bird soaring above Beast Mountain with absolute majesty and dominance. Its aura existed on an entirely different level; a power Arthur had never felt before in this world.
And at that moment… he felt happiness.
Because the more the world around him evolved, and the more new powers appeared—or even ancient powers once hidden—the closer he came to releasing his dormant strength.
Right now, he could not use the power of Cthulhu, nor the power of the holders of the Four Walls, nor even bring his second body into this world because of the balance of the world itself. But… what if those balances changed? What if rulers and transformations became part of this world?
Then he would be able to unleash the Ruler's power, use Dragon Form… and his complete true strength.
Arthur smiled calmly while looking toward the blue sky, then quickly moved toward the direction where he had thrown Ning'er.
'Where in the name of the Creator of the universe did they go?'
He carefully examined the surroundings before noticing heavy dragging marks across the ground.
'These are Ning'er's footprints… small, but she was dragging something. Who was she dragging?'
His eyes narrowed.
'Did Zhuo Fan and Xie Tianyang finally collapse? Or is that foolish girl trying to save them? Didn't Xie Tianyang plan to abandon her when he learned the Seventh Elder was after us? Didn't they already leave her behind when he tried to detonate the area around him?'
'Does she not understand… or is she truly foolish?'
Arthur quickly followed the dragging marks until he reached a small cave. In front of the cave entrance, numerous white wolf corpses were scattered everywhere, while at the center of them lay Ning'er, unconscious.
Arthur immediately rushed toward her and picked her up. Her condition hovered between life and death.
"Damn you, you foolish girl… why are you like this?"
He was about to take out a Miraculous Healing Potion and place it into her mouth when he suddenly sensed that same pure blue aura radiating from inside the cave.
He quickly turned.
Zhuo Fan was sitting deep within the cave, surrounded by a dense blue aura.
"Damn it… what in the name of the Creator of creation is happening here?"
Without hesitation, he placed the potion into Ning'er's mouth, then carried her and entered the cave.
Arthur sat opposite Zhuo Fan, and the moment his hand touched Zhuo Fan's body, the blue aura violently wrapped itself around Arthur.
"Damn… it's trying to absorb my energy!"
He felt an overwhelming pressure piercing through his soul, and his energy began gradually decreasing.
"You're trying to drain my power? Then what do you think of this?"
A calm smile appeared on his face as a twisted red aura rose around his hand.
"Drain!"
he shouted powerfully, beginning to absorb the pure blue energy little by little.
"Nothing surpasses the Blood Demon Technique in draining. This technique drained the power of the World Destroyer Cthulhu… so do you really think a weak aura like this can endure?"
Calmly, Arthur began storing the blue flames inside the preservation vial within the storage.
After some time passed, the aura disappeared from around both him and Zhuo Fan.
Arthur looked toward Zhuo Fan.
He was in good condition. The wound on his chest had healed, and his state was far better than before.
As for Ning'er, she had recovered thanks to the miraculous potion.
Only Xie Tianyang remained. His condition was not critical, and although he was far from his best state, he would survive… whether Arthur helped him or not.
