Chapter 8 - The Butler’s Summons: chapter8

Part1

The Butler, a constant presence behind the scenes, moved through the halls with an air of calm efficiency. His footsteps were measured, never hurried, as he moved from room to room, gently knocking before entering. Each time, he conveyed the same message with unwavering composure:

"The Master requests your presence in the Round Table Room. Please join us at your earliest convenience."

The Council members, having just settled into their luxurious yet utilitarian rooms in the expansive Sanctuary, now found themselves preparing for what was next. Some were anxious, others curious, but all felt the weight of the moment. This was no ordinary mission. Elias, the Apex Human, was their charge. The one they would protect, guide, and potentially shape the future around.

The Round Table Room: The Command Center(part2)

When they entered the Round Table Room, it felt like stepping into a completely different world. The room itself was a vast circular space, the centerpiece of which was an ancient, dark wood table that seemed to resonate with history. Around it, holographic screens flickered with tactical data, galaxies mapped in glowing lines, and endless streams of encrypted information. The walls were lined with shelves that housed ancient tomes, old scrolls, and relics from long-forgotten civilizations. Yet, amidst all the archaic items, there were also advanced tech modules and weapons, an eclectic fusion of ancient wisdom and modern-day might.

Elias wasn't there yet, but the Council could feel his presence coming before they saw him. The room was charged with anticipation, as if the very air knew that a pivotal moment was about to unfold.

The Butler gave them a subtle nod and moved to a far corner of the room, his duties apparently complete for now. The Council members found their seats, and there was a palpable unease among them. They didn't yet know how they would fit into Elias's world, and the tension lingered.

Then the door opened.

Elias's Entrance(part3)

Elias entered with a sharp, confident stride for someone so young, his eyes scanning the room quickly, taking in every detail. He was dressed in a simple, sleek outfit—nothing extravagant, yet it radiated purpose. His dark hair was slightly tousled, and his demeanor was anything but unsettling. His mind seemed to be always at work, even when his body appeared still.

He surveyed the room with a look of quiet contempt, his youthful face contorting slightly as his gaze lingered on the Council. He seemed to be sizing them up, but there was something unsettling in his eyes. His intelligence, his brilliance, was a force unto itself, and it emanated from him like an invisible aura.

Selene stood, her voice calm and welcoming. "Elias, I'm glad you could join us."

Without missing a beat, he walked past her, his eyes never leaving the Council. "I didn't ask for this." His voice, though soft, carried a weight that could not be ignored. He turned to his mother, his expression tightening. "I wanted friends—people my age. Not a bunch of old warriors and scientists who look like they're here for a second chance at life."

The Council was taken aback by the frankness of his statement, but they quickly adjusted to the tension in the air. They had expected nothing less from someone like Elias.

The Council Responds(part4)

Before Selene could respond, Councilman 4, Councilman 10, and Councilman 12 stepped forward. All three were taller than Elias, but there was an air of familiarity in their gestures as they addressed him.

Councilman 4, a lanky figure with a mysterious, calculating air, smiled gently. "Actually, Elias," he began, his voice warm but with an edge of mischief, "we're not as far apart in age as you might think."

Elias tilted his head, clearly unconvinced.

"Can't you tell? Look at our height," Councilman 10 added, standing proudly, towering over Elias. "We may look older, but it's all a matter of perspective. Trust me, I know. I'm only 15 as well."

Councilman 12, the quiet one among them, adjusted his glasses and chimed in. "Same here, Elias. We're the same age, technically."

Elias stared at them for a moment, still not entirely convinced. But the sincerity in their eyes made him pause, just for a second.

Before he could reply, Councilman 5, the oldest yet one of the shortest, floated effortlessly to the center of the table. His eyes gleamed with the quiet wisdom of someone who had seen far more than any of them, though his stature betrayed his true age. As he floated above the table, his tone remained calm, but his words had an edge.

"I'm the oldest one here," Councilman 5 said dryly, "but the shortest. So what does that make me?"

The room fell into a brief, awkward silence, broken only by Elias's soft chuckle. For a moment, his sharp mind seemed to relax. He hadn't expected them to be so direct, so real.

The First Plan of Action(part5)

Once the brief moment of levity passed, the Council gathered around the Round Table, the central holographic screens flickering to life. Elias, still standing, crossed his arms and looked over the table, his eyes scanning the complex data streams.

Selene took her place, sitting near Elias, as the discussion began. The first plan of action needed to be set—though Elias was still adjusting to the idea of working with a team, he knew that this was no longer about just him. He had a responsibility.

"We need to establish a training regimen," Councilman 4 suggested, his tone serious. "Something that can help Elias tap into his potential without overwhelming him. He's strong, but his mental state is fragile. We need to be careful."

Elias stiffened at the comment, but he didn't argue. The truth stung, but it wasn't wrong.

"You need to learn control," Councilman 10 added. "Your intellect is your greatest asset, but it's also your greatest enemy. You've already seen what happens when you push yourself too far."

Elias lowered his gaze, remembering the times his mind had spiraled into dangerous obsessions.

"I know," he muttered. "I get it."

Councilman 12, a quiet, calculating figure, suggested a more tactical approach. "We'll combine mental training with physical challenges. Balance is key. We don't want him losing himself in theory, nor do we want him losing his edge."

The Council nodded in agreement. Elias remained quiet, though his eyes betrayed a deep calculation. He wasn't sure if he could trust them fully yet, but their expertise was undeniable. He would play along—for now.

"I can design the physical training exercises," Councilman 5 offered. "I've studied martial arts, weapons, combat tactics. I can make sure he's not just a genius in a lab coat, but also a force to be reckoned with."

"I'll handle the mental side," Abyssion said with a nod. "We need to make sure his mind is as sharp as his body is strong."

Elias glanced over at Selene, who simply gave him a quiet, understanding look. She didn't need to say anything. She had already trusted them, and so, for now, he would trust them too.

Settling Into the Mission(part6)

As the plans were finalized and the first steps toward Elias's training were decided, the Council began to understand the gravity of their task. They weren't just here to protect Elias—they were here to guide him, to remind him that there was more to life than knowledge and control. They were his team, his anchor.

But in the back of their minds, the question remained: could they really keep Elias from tipping over the edge, from succumbing to the very curse that made him both a gift and a danger to the universe?

As the meeting adjourned and everyone began to disperse, Elias stayed at the table, staring at the holographic screens, lost in thought. The weight of his mind, and the expectations of his mother and the Council, pressed on him more than ever.

He had to stay balanced. But would he? Or would the knowledge overwhelm him again?

Only time would tell.
