Chapter 189: Cyndaquil VS Skarmory
Speaking of Fire-type Pokémon, Brock actually had a Vulpix, but he hadn't used it for battles; it was currently positioned as a mascot Pokémon.
"Then I'll leave it to you. Let's duel with one Pokémon each!" Miki's aura changed; she transformed from the quiet beauty who looked pitiable into an overbearing, fiery woman.
This sudden change made Brock tremble.
"Huh? You want to duel with me?"

"So she's the Trainer who's been looking for people to duel?" Misty realized.
"Brock, don't you have a Vulpix? Let it give it a try!"
Ash shouted, not afraid of making a scene.

Since Ash could point out that Skarmory was also afraid of Electric-types, Miki knew that Ash was also an extraordinary Trainer.
"I choose you, Cyndaquil!"
"Ninuo~"
Cyndaquil yawned as soon as it came out, looking like it hadn't woken up yet.
Ash frowned, "Cyndaquil, ignite your fighting spirit!"

Skarmory continuously poked at Cyndaquil with its sharp beak, while Cyndaquil dodged by jumping back and forth, up and down.
"Cyndaquil's defense is indeed quite good, but if you don't fight back, I'm going to win this battle!" Miki said.
"It's too early to talk about winning or losing now!"
Ash knew where Cyndaquil's limits were.
"Skarmory, use Swift!"
Skarmory opened its mouth from high above and spat out a large number of star-shaped light beams to attack.
"Cyndaquil, we'll use Swift too!"
Two identical moves collided, canceling each other out.
"Cyndaquil, you should be able to ignite your fighting spirit now," Ash shouted.
"Ninuo!"
Cyndaquil let out a roar, and flames suddenly ignited from the circular spots on its back.
"Oh, that's more like it!" Miki exclaimed.
A smile appeared on Ash's face, "Yeah, the battle is just beginning now."
"Cyndaquil, use Flamethrower."
"Counter with Swift!"
The Flamethrower missed. Seeing Skarmory's attack approaching, Ash shouted, "Cyndaquil, use Flame Wheel to spin!"
Receiving the command, Cyndaquil covered its whole body in flames, and with the aid of rotation, the flames formed a defensive and offensive shield.
The Swift hadn't even hit before it was canceled out by the flames.
"Not bad! Skarmory, use Steel Wing," Miki shouted.
"Cyndaquil, Flare Blitz!"
Ash chose to go head-to-head. Cyndaquil met the Skarmory, whose wings were both glowing, with a body covered in scorching flames.
Just before the collision, Ash shouted, "Cyndaquil, now! Use Flamethrower to fly onto Skarmory's back."
Cyndaquil jumped with all its might and used Flamethrower on the ground, using the force to leap onto Skarmory's back.
Cyndaquil, covered in flames, standing on its back made the Skarmory, which was already weak to fire, feel a wave of scorching heat.
Then, it crashed.
"Skarmory, are you okay?"
Miki looked nervously at the Skarmory that had nose-dived.
Skarmory slapped Cyndaquil off with its wings and then flew up again, but its shaky flight posture was enough to show that Cyndaquil had caused it significant damage.
"Miss Miki, your Skarmory is really well-trained. Its resistance training has reached this level," Ash exclaimed.
"Your Cyndaquil isn't bad either. Skarmory, use Metal Claw."
Skarmory pounced on Cyndaquil again. Cyndaquil didn't flinch and used its side-to-side jumping technique to toy with Skarmory.
Skarmory's stamina was gradually depleted, and its attack frequency dropped significantly. Seeing that it was about time, Ash shouted, "Cyndaquil, use Flamethrower!"
"Ninuo!"
Cyndaquil's Flamethrower hit Skarmory's chest.
"Skarmory, you must hold on!" Miki shouted.
"Alright, Cyndaquil, use the final Flame Wheel to finish it off!"
Cyndaquil, like a flaming spinning top, crashed straight into Skarmory.
With this hit, Skarmory also lost the ability to battle!
"Ninuo~~"
After defeating Skarmory, Cyndaquil danced with joy.
"Skarmory, you did very well." Miki recalled Skarmory into its Pokémon ball.
"You won this battle. Thank you for giving me the chance to have such a great match." Miki thanked Ash.
"I am also honored to have battled you, Miss Miki. By the way, Miss Miki, are you still planning to stay on the mountain to train?" Ash asked.
"No, I finally decided to go down the mountain to challenge the Gyms."
