After the Indigo Plateau Conference, Delia returned to Pallet Town with Ash's trophy and Professor Oak.
As for Ash, Misty, and their Pokémon, Pikachu and Gardevoir, they planned to follow Gary to Vermilion City.
Before heading to the Orange Islands, Ash intended to go to Vermilion City's port to see if he could capture that Lugia.

Before leaving the Trainer Village, Ash decided to use his two lottery chances first. He opened the system interface. The Legendary/Mythical Pokémon lottery pool was different from other random lotteries; he could see the contents of the prize pool through shadows.

Jirachi saw Ash, and its cute little face broke into a smile, then it flew to Ash and rubbed against his cheek.
Deoxys extended a hand, and a kind expression appeared on its face.
Ash reached out and shook Deoxys's outstretched hand, then hugged Jirachi and gave it a good squeeze.
"Ash, that tickles~"
Jirachi giggled at Ash's actions and finally had to communicate with Ash through telepathy.
Watching Ash being intimate with two unknown Pokémon, Pikachu was both envy and jealous.
"Pikachu, Gardevoir, let me introduce you to two new friends."
The four Pokémon looked at each other, and then Gardevoir used Telekinesis to take out a jar of crystal-clear energy cubes from Ash's backpack.
"Gardevoir!" (Here, eat this.)
Deoxys and Jirachi graciously ate several pieces, and then their relationship became closer.
Only this scene left Pikachu bewildered. What did this mean?

"What a nice name! I really want to catch one too!"

"Jirachi and Deoxys are special Mythical Pokémon. There are traces of other Deoxys active in the Hoenn region...
