CASSANDRA'S POV:
"I came here to get what I need."
The words echoed in my head long after she stopped speaking.
The audacity of it irritated me more than I was willing to show. But I didn't respond. I simply looked at her for a brief second, letting my silence speak where words would have been too cheap.
My stare said enough.
It always did.
"Let's go," I said coldly, turning away before she could see even the smallest crack in my composure.
The two women that had followed Maris & Livora, immediately fell into step behind me. Their heels clicked softly against the marble as they tried to match my pace, their movements careful, practiced.
They knew better than to speak unless I allowed it.
Or at least…
They were supposed to.
We had barely turned the corner of the hallway when Maris finally broke the silence.
"That woman…" she began cautiously.
I didn't slow down.
"What about her?" I asked flatly.
There was a small hesitation before she continued.
