Jade looked at him first, then looked away immediately. She had seen the look on his face. The curiosity told her everything she needed to know, and she had no answers for him if he were to ask what the problem was. But to her greatest surprise, Van simply walked up to the side of the bed and sat down next to her on the floor.
He did not say a word for about one minute, and neither did Jade.
"I came to serve you breakfast, but you were not around." Jade broke the silence, saying the only thing that she could think of, and in the same vein, Van answered.
"I was out."
Then he paused, turned to look at her, but she was not looking at him. Rather, her gaze was fixed on her knee. Strange.
"Will you not think I am such a bad person if I do not ask why you are crying, Jade?" he began. "If you do not want to talk about it, it is fine too. I am not going to force you to do anything you do not like."
"Hmm," Jade muttered.
