Even Ishizu stared in disbelief.
"So she already knew he'd dump Ra into the Graveyard… and prepped Huaquero for that exact moment?"
Jounouchi doubled over laughing. "No way—Marik's completely short-circuited! Just look at his face—HAHA!"
Yami Yugi nodded, eyes steady. "Losing Ra cuts his ceiling dramatically. And with Aoi's dueling… I can't picture her losing from here."
The crowd's mood lifted instantly—none more smugly pleased than Kaiba.
"Hah! Brilliant. Ishizu—are you still saying Aoi can't handle him now?" Kaiba snapped.
Ishizu exhaled, a small smile forming. "I can see a future where Miss Aoi defeats Marik's dark persona."
Aoi tilted her head at Marik with deliberate provocation.
"Marik—being a tomb-keeper by blood… how does it feel to have your Graveyard looted in broad daylight?"
"Tch. Clever." Marik's grin returned—crooked, venomous. "Then let's move on."
He slapped a card onto his Duel Disk.
"I activate Card of Sanctity! Both players draw until they have six cards in hand!"
Aoi's eyes narrowed. "So you had a backup line ready."
Marik didn't answer. He continued rapidly.
"I Set one monster face-down, Set two cards. End turn. (Hand: 3)"
Aoi's field still gleamed with oppressive gold.
Eldlich the Golden Lord stood like a monarch in a cursed palace.
"My turn. Draw."
Aoi's voice was calm, almost bored.
"Battle. Huaquero of the Golden Land—attack the face-down monster!"
The zombie tomb-raider rushed forward and cleaved down.
Marik's monster flipped and shattered—
Executioner – Makyura was destroyed.
"Gah—!" Marik jerked as pain lanced through him, his Black Game punishing the duelist along with the monster.
Aoi's lips curled. "So you do feel it."
"Don't get cocky!" Marik snarled. "Makyura's effect activates!"
He forced the words through clenched teeth.
"When this card is sent from the Monster Zone to the Graveyard—once this turn, I can activate Trap Cards from my hand!"
He whipped a card forward.
"I activate the Continuous Trap Torture Wheel from my hand!"
A massive iron wheel—like a ritual execution device—materialized behind Aoi's monster zone, chains snapping outward.
"I target Eldlich the Golden Lord! While Torture Wheel remains on the field, that monster can't attack and can't change battle position. And during my Standby Phase, you take 500 damage!"
The chains shot toward Eldlich—
…but just before they wrapped around the Golden Lord's limbs, a flood of radiant gold erupted.
The chains dissolved midair.
The wheel itself cracked—then exploded into fragments.
Marik's mouth fell open.
"Wh—what?! Why didn't my Trap work?!"
Aoi's tone turned mocking. "The Golden King doesn't kneel to bargain-bin torture devices."
She snapped a card open.
"I activate the Counter Trap Solemn Judgment of the Golden Land—Golden Land Forever!"
Marik's eyes widened a fraction.
"This card activates when a monster effect, Spell, or Trap is activated while I control an 'Eldlich' monster. I Tribute one Zombie monster—then negate that activation and destroy it."
Aoi raised her hand.
"I Tribute Huaquero of the Golden Land."
Huaquero dissolved into dust and ash.
"Your Torture Wheel is negated—and destroyed."
Marik clicked his tongue, furious.
"Tch—!"
Aoi's Golden Lord stepped forward, emerald glow pulsing from the chest-gem.
"Now—Eldlich the Golden Lord. Direct attack."
Marik's smile sharpened again.
"Heh. Nice try."
A card flipped on his back row.
"I activate the Continuous Trap Metal Reflect Slime!"
A huge mass of mercury-like sludge surged up, hardening into a metallic sphere between Marik and Eldlich.
"When activated, it Special Summons itself as a monster in Defense Position!"
Metal Reflect Slime (Level 10 / DEF 3000) anchored itself like a wall.
Aoi's eyes shifted, calculating.
"Fine. I stop the attack."
She placed two cards facedown.
"I Set two. End turn. (Hand: 4)"
Then, in the End Phase, her Graveyard shimmered.
"End Phase—effect of Huaquero in the Graveyard. I banish it to Set an 'Eldlixir' Spell/Trap from my Deck."
A new facedown card slid into place.
"I Set Eldlixir of White Destiny."
Across the platform, Yami Yugi's gaze sharpened.
"Marik still has lines…"
Mai nodded. "Even without Ra, that look on his face says he's not done."
"My turn. Draw."
Marik slammed his palm down.
"I Tribute Metal Reflect Slime—and Special Summon from my Extra Deck… Egyptian God Slime!"
The metallic slime convulsed, liquefying—then swelling, reforming into a grotesque parody of a divine giant.
It rose in the silhouette of Obelisk, as if mocking Kaiba's pride.
Kaiba's jaw tightened. "That bastard…"
Jounouchi gaped. "It's shaped like Obelisk?! That's so petty!"
Mai scoffed. "Marik's sense of humor is trash."
Marik threw his head back, laughing.
"Hahahaha! Behold—Egyptian God Slime!"
Egyptian God Slime (ATK 3000 / DEF 3000)
"And I'm not finished."
He slapped down another card.
"I Normal Summon Bowgun Shooter in Attack Position!"
A round-bodied monster with a mounted crossbow clacked into place.

"During each of my Standby Phases, you'll take 600 damage."
Aoi's eyes narrowed slightly—first real sign of annoyance.
Marik pointed forward.
"Battle! Egyptian God Slime attacks Eldlich the Golden Lord!"
The slime-god cocked its arm back like a battering ram—
Aoi's back row snapped open.
"I activate Conquistador of the Golden Land!"
A golden sigil ignited; a Trap became flesh.
"This card Special Summons itself as a monster."
A phantom cavalry—rotted riders on skeletal mounts—burst from a golden gate and stampeded onto her field.

"And since I control Eldlich, I can destroy one face-up card on the field."
Aoi's voice turned razor-sharp.
"I destroy Egyptian God Slime."
The undead cavalry charged—lances and hooves slamming into the towering slime colossus—
Marik's grin widened, as if he'd been waiting for this.
"Hehehe… you really think I'm falling for the same trick twice?"
He slapped a facedown card.
"Flip!"
