Behind Aoi, a golden citadel surged up from the darkness—every wall plated in dazzling gold, brilliant enough to sting the eyes… yet from within that radiance seeped a nauseating, uncanny miasma, as if the palace itself were cursed.
"Cursed Eldland…?" Marik muttered, narrowing his eyes. oi's Duel Disk chimed.
"Effect of Cursed Eldland—I pay 800 Life Points. I can add one 'Eldlich' monster or one 'Eldlixir' Spell/Trap from my Deck to my hand."
Aoi's Life Points dropped.
Aoi LP 3500 → 2700
"I choose the Continuous Trap—Eldlixir of White Destiny."
Marik's gaze sharpened, but Aoi didn't pause.
"Now, effect of Eldlich the Golden Lord from my hand."
She lifted a card, eyes cold.
"I send this card, and one Spell/Trap from my hand to the Graveyard—then I send one card on the field to the Graveyard."
Aoi slid Eldlich the Golden Lord and Eldlixir of Black Awakening into the Graveyard in one smooth motion.
"Marik—your Swift Bloodsucker Leech goes to the Graveyard."
"What—?!" Marik clicked his tongue, forced to watch as his monster vanished into the darkness.
Honda blurted out, "She traded two cards just to get rid of that one monster—doesn't that feel like a loss?"
Yami Yugi's eyes stayed fixed on the field. "No… there's definitely more to it."
Aoi's voice cut in, calm and precise.
"Now I activate Eldlich the Golden Lord's effect in the Graveyard. While it's there, I send one Spell/Trap I control to the Graveyard to add it to my hand—then I can Special Summon one Zombie monster from my hand."
Aoi's finger tapped the glowing icon over her back row.
"I send Cursed Eldland from my field to the Graveyard. I add Eldlich the Golden Lord back to my hand."
The golden citadel collapsed into glittering dust, swallowed by shadow.
"And I Special Summon—Eldlich the Golden Lord!"
A heavy, regal presence crashed onto the field.
A figure clad head-to-toe in gold armor stood tall, gemstones studding every plate. Rings and bracelets glittered on all ten fingers and both wrists. At its chest, a crimson spiral gem throbbed like a heart—like a philosopher's stone embedded in flesh.
Eldlich the Golden Lord (ATK 3500 / DEF 3800)
"3500 attack—and it won't be destroyed by card effects?!" Marik's expression finally cracked.
Aoi didn't even blink. "That's the warm-up. Don't start acting impressed already."
She continued immediately.
"Effect of Cursed Eldland in the Graveyard—since it was sent from my Spell/Trap Zone to the Graveyard, I can send one 'Golden Land' card from my Deck to the Graveyard."
"I send Guardian of the Golden Land to the Graveyard."
Next, she pointed to the Graveyard glow.
"Effect of Eldlixir of Black Awakening—I banish it from my Graveyard to Set one 'Golden Land' Spell/Trap directly from my Deck."
A card snapped face-down onto her back row.
"I Set Huaquero of the Golden Land."
She raised her arm.
"Battle! Eldlich the Golden Lord—direct attack!"
Jounouchi pumped a fist. "Yes! If that hits, Marik's basically done!"
Marik's grin returned, sharp and ugly.
"Heh—sorry, but I'm not letting you have that."
He flicked his wrist.
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell Dark Seal Wall!"
A cyclone of black wind coiled around him like a barrier. Eldlich surged forward—then the dark gale slammed it back, the strike forcibly canceled.
Aoi's golden lord halted mid-lunge, the air itself refusing passage.
Marik laughed. "Dark Seal Wall negates direct attacks. What a shame."
Aoi's eyes narrowed with amusement, not frustration.
"If you go down too fast, that's a pain for me too."
She placed two cards facedown.
"I Set two cards. Turn end. (Hand: 2)"
Then, at the end of the turn, a cold voice—hers—continued without missing a beat.
"End Phase—effect of Guardian of the Golden Land in the Graveyard. I banish it to Set one 'Eldlixir' Spell/Trap from my Deck."
A new facedown card appeared.
"I Set Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine."
Aoi lifted her chin slightly. "Alright. Your turn."
Mai folded her arms, watching closely. "Aoi's Life Points are lower… but the field advantage is clearly hers."
"Yeah," Duke agreed, eyes bright. "This is my first time watching her duel, and in just one turn I get why Pegasus lost to her."
Marik drew.
"My turn—draw!"
He smiled and revealed his next move immediately.
"I activate Left Arm Offering!"
He spread his hand.
"If I have two or more other cards in my hand, I banish all of them. Then I can add one Spell Card from my Deck to my hand."
A swath of his hand vanished into ash-gray light.
"I choose—Monster Reborn!"
Isis' face snapped up, panic breaking through her composure.
"No—! He's going to summon the God this turn!"
Kaiba's eyes narrowed. "Wait… are you saying the card he discarded on turn one was—"
Yami Yugi's gaze hardened. Even he looked shaken.
"The Winged Dragon of Ra…?"
"But Spell Cards only last one turn against a God," Yugi said tensely. "Even if he revives it, it'll go back to the Graveyard next turn."
Isis shook her head—once, sharply.
"Ra is the strongest of the three God Cards. Its effects are… monstrous."
Marik's laughter rose, sick with delight.
"Hahahaha—Aoi Kisaragi. You wanted me to summon a God, didn't you? Fine."
"Bow to the divine… and then sink into the abyss of darkness!"
He slammed the Spell down.
"I activate Monster Reborn! I Special Summon The Winged Dragon of Ra from my Graveyard—!"
Aoi's eyes flashed.
"Chain. I activate Huaquero of the Golden Land."
Her facedown Trap sprang open—then transformed.
"This card becomes a Normal Monster and is Special Summoned to my Monster Zone. (Zombie / LIGHT / Level 5 / ATK 1800 / DEF 1500—also treated as a Trap.)"
A pale, tomb-robbing guardian rose from a swirl of golden dust and grave-soil aura.
"And if I control Eldlich the Golden Lord, I can banish one card from either Graveyard."
Marik's smile twitched—just slightly.
"No… don't tell me—"
Aoi's voice was merciless.
"I banish The Winged Dragon of Ra."
A gold-and-black vortex yanked something colossal out of Marik's Graveyard—like a chained sun being torn into exile.
Marik's pupils constricted.
"And because your target is no longer in the Graveyard," Aoi finished, "Monster Reborn loses its target and resolves without effect."
The air around Marik felt suddenly colder.
His "God" had been sealed before it could even breathe.
