Nigel stared at her for a moment before slowly chuckling, completely dismissing the tension that had just started forming in the air.
"What can happen to me?" he asked, shrugging as he stepped back from the door, giving her enough room to enter the house. "I'm just sick."
"Sick?" Adelyn repeated, walking inside while looking at him seriously. "You've always had good immunity. You hardly ever visited doctors. How could you suddenly fall sick?"
It wasn't as though it was impossible for him to get sick.
But seeing Nigel looking the way he did, she couldn't bring herself to believe that it was just some casual sickness.
Nigel slumped onto his sofa and stared at her.
"Why can't I be sick? Even if you have long forgotten to consider me one of your own, I'm still a human. Just like you. If you can get sick, why can't I?"
Adelyn heard him and couldn't help but frown.
