I sat on a bed in the Pokecenter, staring at the black screen of my phone.
I might never recover from the generation aura loss that occurred in Ultra Space.
Jokes aside, that shit was scary. I might not be as lucky next time. Speaking of luck, what was that fucking spawn? It definitely wasn't luck base or if it is, I'm extremely unlucky for someone with 8 luck.
I feel like it needs to be said 8 is 2 from the max I can have, or at the very least 10 is the highest you can have off the start.
All that goes to show that I need more power.
Now that I'm level 6, I have 3 perks and 57 skill points. One of the perks I'm thinking of taking is gonna have to be a growth perk, so either Educated or Comprehension.
Educated - +3 skill points at each level up.
Comprehension - Gain 2 skill points per read book instead of 1.
Just putting this out there, I didn't even know books could give skill points. If I had known that, I wouldn't have put so many points into PokémonKnowledge. This being the Pokémon universe, I am sure I can find plenty of books about them.
I'm not sure how many times I can level up, but what I can be sure of is that each level is gonna get harder and at some point stop. If this were a game, I would pick Educated, but this isn't a game.
The fear I felt when my life was in danger, the desperate feeling of wanting to survive even if the odds were stacked against me. I may not feel pain, and thank god for that, but I don't want to have to risk my life for progress. I know I will have to eventually, but for now, opening up a book or 2 won't be a bad thing. This is why I'm picking the Comprehension perk, doubling the gain I get from reading books.
Hitting level 5 lets me take more Pokémon-related perks. These perks are akin to classes in games. Pokemon Trainer, Type Mastery, and Supernatural Connection perks seem the most interesting.
Pokemon Trainer - +15 Range Weapons when using Pokeball-related items; Pokémon caught by you are less likely to rebel.
Type Mastery - +20 Range Weapons when using Pokeball-related items on your chosen type, greatly increases the effectiveness of training and learning from chosen type moves.
Move Tutor (Rank 1-4) - Unlock the ability for Pokemon under your teaching to relearn.
I doubt I'd even take Type Mastery, but I will definitely be taking the Pokémon Trainer perk in hindsight. I should have tagged Range Weapons for Pokeball chucking, as no matter how good at battling I am, I need to catch Pokemon for my team.
Move Tutor is a must; at higher levels it has to be better, it does have 4 ranks after all.
I poured my skill points into Range Weapons and Speech, 29 and 28, respectively. Gaining 45 Range Weapons and 45 Speech, I would have put more points into Range Weapons, but my brand new perk, Pokemon Trainer, gave me a +15 to Range Weapons.
I took a glance at my newly updated S.P.E.C.I.A.L sheet.

—--------------------------------
I looked over the quest rewards I gained for escaping Ultra Space: the title Faller, and the Pokemon Lover, Blessed By The Light perks. Blessed By The Light was a badass name for a perk.
Faller - You emit a lingering, residual energy that attracts Ultra Beasts.
Pokemon Lover - 'Normal' Pokemon are more likely to like you. (Not the typing)
Blessed By The Light - Z-Moves are 5% more powerful.
Definitely should have tagged either Speech or Range Weapons instead of Barter. While Barter is useful, it won't be if I don't put enough SP (Skill Points) into it. That being said, perhaps for long-distance trading, Barter would be useful.
"Alola!"
I looked over to see a young lady who looked to be a couple of years older than me; she wore a pink and white nurse outfit. Her vibrant pink hair curled into a single loop, unlike every other regional variant.
"Alola, Adam Woods." smiled kindly at me.
"How's it- I mean, Alola, Nurse Joy."
While yes, I do have a nice system that lets me become skilled at supernatural levels. Many of my abilities can be attributed to mental and physical disabilities.
She probably knows them because I didn't try to hide anything; I do think of myself as an anomaly, but none of my physical stats are beyond human level, and there were no mental checks beyond 'How much can you remember?'
In a world of fire-breathing lizards and psychics, I'm not that big of a deal. People mainly do Pokemon experiments here, not humans.
"Well..." She hesitated. How bad does she think this is? "I would like to hear your understanding of your conditions."
"I am weak physically, and I can't feel pain. Those are the only 2 things off the top of my head."
"... Your memories?" Joy shot me a look of pity.
"Right! Before Ultra Space, everything is blurry. I remember bits and pieces like my name and... stuff." This wasn't a lie. While I do remember Pokémon-related things more clearly, I don't remember some important things, like the street I lived on or the school I graduated from.
I remember that I'm 19 and well, 18 now, but it feels like when I was ripped out of my world, I left a few things behind.
Nurse Joy didn't push on what I remember, possibly because of the state I'm in, in her eyes, of course. "Let's start with your physical abilities. You have something similar to myasthenia, which means your muscular strength is extremely low to the point of being considered disabled."
"You said similar, not that I have myasthenia?"
"Well, you're the first case I've seen with such low muscular strength, while having extremely high muscular endurance."
"Well, I feel honored to be your first."
Seduce check 37/50 Failed.
"Adam, are you alright?" I don't think the innuendo landed. The pity in her dark blue eyes only deepened the more she continued. "If you want to...you can talk to me about what happened?"
"I'm ok. It could have been worse; I still got my limbs, don't I?" Before now, I never really thought about the future besides 'FuNny GuY BeAt GuZzloRd'. I have no Pokemon, no friends, no place, and last but not least, I am maidenless.
Moving from home is hard, huh?
"Adam..." I looked at Nurse Joy; the pity she looked at me with made my chest tighten. I hate this feeling; no, it would be more correct to say I dread it. The silence started to get to me a bit. "I'll be fine, just need to find my footing."
"There are some things that could help you 'Find your footing'. For starters, you need to finish your compulsory education."
"...I'm 18."
"Yes, compulsory education ends at 18, but their is still 2 months left before the school year ends." She paused for a second before continuing. "In other words, you have to go to school for 2 months and take the end-of-year test to gain your high school diploma. You CAN drop out if you want, but I recommend finishing school."
"I'll go, but can I enroll in trainer school? I plan on becoming a Pokémon trainer." It was either the school or the library after taking the Comprehension perk.
"Great! I'll get everything sorted out."
"How about giving me your number?"
Speech check 45/30 Pass.
"I don't see why not!" She said with a sweet smile.
"I got something I've been meaning to ask you."
"Ask away!"
"If I recall correctly, Alola doesn't have gym battles; they do Island Challenges. I don't have a Pokémon right now, but when I do, where do I sign up for the Island Challenges?"
While I'm in Alola, I will definitely gather the Z-crystals. Perhaps I will gather the specific Z-Crystals too.
Luck check 8/6 Pass.
"If you plan on becoming a Pokémon Trainer, you're gonna need a Trainer Passport. To get one, you're gonna need a Pokémon." Joy paused for a second; I could see an idea forming in her dark blue eyes.
"Damn, you have nice eyes." Did I say that out loud?
Speech check 37/20 Pass.
A blush began to creep onto her pale white face. I didn't mean to say it out loud, but after seeing the results, I'm glad I did.
"Th-thank you, that was really sweet. You completely ruined my train of thought."
"Something about Pokémon?" I reminded her.
"Right! If you don't have a Pokémon in mind, I do!" Joy reached out and grabbed my hand, then continued. "There is this poor Pokémon whose trainer recently abandoned it after failing to evolve.-"
"And you want me to take them in?" I interrupted. "Got a picture, or could you bring the Pokémon out?"
I wouldn't mind, but ultimately it depends on the Pokémon. If it's a Magikarp, no way I'm taking it.
"I'll go get him," Joy said before stepping out of the room.
***********
Joy led me behind the Pokémon Center. Behind the Center was a Pokémon battlefield; she stepped into the middle of the field and paused. I'm pretty sure it was for dramatic effect.
Charisma check 8/6 Pass.
Definitely for dramatic effect.
"You're in luck; there happened to be 2 other more willing Pokémon." The legendary 3 starter Pokémon pick, honestly, as long as the Pokémon aren't difficult, I'll be happy to pick it.
She pulled out 3 Pokeballs, then threw them into the air. With a flash of light, 3 Pokémon came out: Eevee, Rockruff, and Mareanie.
Pokémon Knowledge check 75/40 Pass.
Rockruff (Shiny) - quadrupedal, canine Pokémon. It is primarily blue with a darker brown muzzle, paws, and ear tips. It has large lime-green eyes, button ears, a short muzzle with a triangular pink nose, and a short tuft of fur on each cheek. Around its neck is a ruff of grayish-white fur stubbed with dark brown pebbles.
Overall, great rock-type Pokémon; if I found one, I'd definitely catch one. It has 3 evolutions; it can become Lycanroc: midday, midnight, and dusk.
Mareanie - a purple, stalk-like body and head. It has blue eyes with yellow pupils and sclerae, and three pointed teeth. On top of its head is a starfish-like collection of ten tentacles. All of the tentacles reach the ground, except for the one directly in front, which is shorter and leaves its face exposed. The tentacles are light blue and covered in purple spines.
A great water and poison type Pokémon. Its final evolution is a certified tank, but not a first-pokemon material. Underwhelming compared to the shiny Rockruff.
Pokémon Knowledge check 75/60 Pass.
The Eevee's coat was a lighter shade of brown, and unlike its regular counterpart, it had purple irises rather than brown.
Thanks to passing my Pokémon Knowledge check, I know these are all signs of being a partner Pokémon. Partner Pokémon are Pokémon with higher base stats than their regular counterpart. They can learn Secret Techniques that are typically performed by humans, furthermore. They have exclusive moves; Eevee has 1 for each Eeveelution it could evolve into.
Basically guaranteed to be the best of their kind, but they can't evolve.
What the fuck is with this lineup, Shiny Rockruff, partner Eevee?
A/N: I'm back and didn't drop the FF; never plan tbh. First day in Alola, and Adam is stuck in the hospital who could've guessed?
This is being published on Scribblehub and Webnovel; are there any other good reading sites ya'll recommend?
Question of the day: What is your favorite Pokémon?
