Lucrezia's breath caught the moment she recognised that look in Gavin's eyes.
It wasn't just confusion or pain. It was a sort of awareness. The way he raised his brows at her and looked...was it disappointed? He had definitely seen what they were doing earlier.
Lucrezia's stomach dropped to the ground.
For a split second, she froze completely, her mind scrambling, heat rushing to her face so fast it almost made her dizzy. He had seen them and there was no doubt about it.
The realisation of it made her fingers tighten slightly around the edge of the bed but despite that, she forced herself to move and act.
Swallowing down the embarrassment threatening to choke her, Lucrezia straightened slightly and reached for the cloth again, adjusting it over his bandage like that had been her only focus all along.
"You're… you're fine," she said, her voice just a little too quick, and controlled. "The bullet has been removed. You just need rest."
Gavin didn't respond immediately.
