The lecture hall was full when it happened.
Fifty plus students, a professor mid-sentence about mana resonance theory, the ambient hum of the central crystal doing its usual job of projecting diagrams, and then the image stuttered.
It lasted maybe four seconds.
A corridor. Leo's figure, blurred slightly at the edges the way illusion footage always was when rendered through second-hand crystal. Someone on the ground. Leo's hand extended, and the angle made it look like he was pushing, not steadying. The audio was clipped, just the tail end of something, a sharp word stripped of its context, landing like an accusation.
Then it was gone. A ripple of static. The professor frowned at the projection crystal, tapped it twice, and resumed his diagram.
Four seconds.
