ROMAN's POV
My eyes pierced into his soul, my stance curated in such a way that made it seem like I was pondering and contemplating what he had just said.
But I really wasn't.
I wanted the absurdity of his words to sink in long enough to know how stupid he sounded.
The words echoed in my head over and over again till I found laughter rubble from deep inside of my chest, my lips curling into a sly smirk.
''Hand her to you or watch my entire pack burn?'' I asked, more to myself than to him.
But he nodded immediately, a glint of hope shining in his eyes.
''Yes. She's not—''
I stepped forward, my broad frame blocking out the light from the tall arched windows behind me.
His words hung in his throat as he slowly swallowed, his back straightening and his facial expression morphing into an unreadable stance.
But I could still see the cracks.
He wanted to look intimidating. I let out a scoff, the smirk on my lips dropping, replaced with an icy glare.
