"I am not homeless!" the girl snapped, her head snapping toward Rhys with a snarl. "And I don't belong to any of you filthy, self-righteous pack dogs! You think you're so special sitting up in your little palace while the rest of the world rots? You're all just arrogant bastards waiting to be slaughtered!"
I took a tentative step forward from behind Roman, my hand tightly clutching the lapels of my heavy velvet cloak. "Who sent you?" I asked gently, trying to keep my voice steady despite the adrenaline surging through my veins. "Why were you watching the pack house?"
The girl's red-tinted eyes flicked to me, a sickening, twisted smile spreading across her bloody lips. "Ah, the Luna" she purred, her voice dripping with pure disdain.
"The precious little prize everyone is fighting over. You really have no idea what's coming for you, do you, sweetie? You think these four big wolves are going to save you?"
