The giants did have cities. However, most giants lived in tribes and villages, and the chief of the small village before them was none other than Yelbarg.
In the past, anyone qualified to join the Giant Warrior Pirates had naturally been a top-tier powerhouse.
Yelbarg walked at the very front, with Roldy and the others following behind him. Along the way, many ordinary giants stood in place, casting curious looks their way. After all, in a place like Elbaf, outsiders were a rare sight.
Those gazes were full of curiosity, yet not the slightest trace of hostility could be seen. As Roldy 's group made their way through the village, everything around them was a fresh experience. Eventually, they arrived at Yelbarg's home.
It was a massive wooden house, one size larger than those ordinary giants lived in. There was nothing particularly special about it. The only thing that made people unable to resist taking a few extra glances was the collection of trophies hanging on the walls inside the house.
They had clearly come from all across the sea. Though none of them were especially valuable, from the mottled marks left on them, one could faintly glimpse the deeds of a great pirate from a bygone era.
"Hahaha! No need to be so reserved. Treat this like your own home. Sit wherever you like!"
Ordinary underlings were not qualified to enter. Roldy and Sheen's group of four sat down at the table. The enormous chairs made all of them look incredibly tiny.
Yelbarg hurriedly brewed a pot of hot tea, then took out the smallest cups in his house and poured one for each of the five.
The cups were still a little too large.
"Well then, Roldy , you're younger than me, so I'll call you that. What brings you and your friends to Elbaf? As far as I know, Elbaf has no family by the name of 'Fate.'"
After taking a sip of tea, Yelbarg asked his question.
Roldy smiled. He did not hide anything and laid out his purpose openly.
"Mr. Yelbarg, the truth is, I'm not a pure-blooded giant. Half of the blood flowing through my veins belongs to the Mink Tribe. As for why I came to Elbaf this time…"
"To become stronger!"
"Stronger?"
Yelbarg froze.
He had once sailed the seas as a pirate. Although his strength could not be called the absolute pinnacle, he at least had a veteran's eye. From beginning to end, Roldy had behaved in an extremely easygoing manner, yet Yelbarg could sense the dense pressure radiating from him, so thick it was almost tangible.
Even just a trace of it made him unable to underestimate this young man, who was far younger than himself.
But immediately afterward, Yelbarg shook his head.
"Young man, the bloodline of us giants does indeed grant us tremendous strength from birth. An adult giant can rival a Marine HQ Vice Admiral. If they are particularly talented, reaching the level of an elite Vice Admiral is not impossible."
"However, even the harshest training methods can only allow a very small number of giants to reach the strength of an ordinary Admiral-level fighter. If your subordinates want to become stronger, that may still be possible. But as for you…"
Yelbarg did not continue.
The meaning behind his words was already clear.
Sheen and the others beside him frowned. They knew Roldy 's strength very well. He had already surpassed Admiral-level powerhouses. Yet according to this giant, did that mean their trip here would end in vain?
Roldy , however, merely smiled.
"Admiral level is far from the limit of the giants! As far as I know, the Giant Kingdom once had a king whose strength surpassed even Admiral-level powerhouses. He relied on no external object whatsoever. He simply tempered his own bloodline to its absolute limit!"
"Where did you hear that?"
Yelbarg's expression changed. Somewhat nervously, he stood up.
His abnormal reaction made the brows of Roldy 's companions rise.
It seemed this giant was hiding something.
"Oh, perhaps my self-introduction wasn't complete enough."
Roldy stood up.
"Let me introduce myself again, Mr. Yelbarg. My name is Fate D. Roldy . A remnant of the old era. Former Rear Admiral of Marine Headquarters. Former Seventh Division Commander of the Rocks Pirates. Former Vice Captain of the Flying Pirates. One of the Five Emperors of the New World."
"They like to call me…"
"The King of the Next Era!"
Roldy stood there. Though he was clearly much shorter than Yelbarg, he gave the other man the feeling of being looked down upon from above.
That long string of titles struck Yelbarg so hard that he could barely breathe.
Though he lived in Elbaf, he was not completely cut off from the outside world. He understood perfectly well what the title "Emperor of the New World" represented. Not to mention that most shocking title of all:
The King of the Next Era.
"Um…"
"There isn't room for that many people here…"
Yelbarg's voice had grown much quieter.
Roldy 's face darkened.
Good grief. He really had not expected the old man to be the type who enjoyed making cold jokes.
Still, from beginning to end, Yelbarg's attitude toward them had been quite friendly, and Roldy did not wish to do anything excessive.
Everything he had said was meant to prove one thing: he knew the giant race possessed a unique method of becoming stronger. That was exactly why he had come. There was no need to brush him off.
He had enough strength to take it by force if he wanted to.
But he hoped to do things amicably.
After a long silence, Yelbarg let out a deep sigh.
"That is only a legend…"
