Hope announced she wanted to return to dimensional monitoring six weeks after the battle, which was—I mean she was still having nightmares three times a week and occasionally went nonverbal when stressed but apparently she'd decided she was ready to resume tactical duties and convincing a three-and-a-half-year-old with teleportation abilities that maybe she should wait was like arguing with a very determined brick wall.
"I'm not going back to combat support." Her clarification while I tried to talk her out of it. "Just monitoring. Checking the scar stability. Healing small rifts if they manifest. Easy stuff. Stuff that doesn't involve people trying to kill me."

"You're still recovering." My protest was gentle but firm. "You don't have to rush back to duties. The Covenant specialists are handling dimensional monitoring adequately."
