MIREYA POV
My heart dropped.
Find out…
That was exactly what I didn't want.
I forced myself to sit still, even though everything inside me was screaming.
"How?" I asked quietly, trying to sound normal.
His thumb brushed over my hand again, slow and thoughtful. "I don't know yet," he admitted. "But power like that doesn't just appear…. Not that sudden"
I swallowed.
Mine did.
Or maybe… it didn't. I don't know.
Even I was confused.. one minute I was powerless, and now I have electric current coming out of my hands.
That thought made my chest tighten even more.
"I don't want people staring at me," I muttered, pulling slightly away from him. "Or treating me like… some experiment…. Or a weirdo"
His gaze softened just a little.
"They won't," he said firmly. "Not if I have anything to say about it."
I looked at him then. Really looked.
He meant it.
That protective edge in his voice… it wasn't fake.
And that made this worse.
