Chapter 10 - SCRAMBLED MIND

He altered those words with a shaky breath, like he was possessed at some point. The more he tried to understand their meaning, the more disoriented he felt.

And that's when he began to realize that he was not where he had been before.

"Hold on, I'm in a hospital?".

"But we were attached by that guy... Uhm, Ny...".

"What happ...".

His forehead was struck by a sharp pain. His memories of the past event gradually felt shrouded, like it was being scrambled.

He quickly clutched his head with both hands, frantically holding on to his fragmented thoughts.

To no avail, he suddenly sat down, wandering how he got here. He had completely forgotten everything.

Moments later, the door to the ward flew open and his mother and siblings rushed in. Pulling him into her arms, his mother embraced him tightly.

His siblings all looked worried, especially Mazou.

"You dummy, what did you go and get yourself involved in this time", Mazou spoke with annoyance. There was a hint of relief in her eyes.

"We were so worried when you didn't come home last night". Their mother cried, with tears building up.

"I don't even know what happened to me. Also, who brought me here? I can't make out a face".

Mazou sighed and responded.

"According to the nurse, it was a woman".

"She carried you all the way here, from where you were found", Arie added.

Their mother pulled him closer to herself, and cried. "What matters now is that you're safe and with your family".

Zenix, still disoriented, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I guess so".

"So, can you move?". Drent finally spoke up. His voice sounding tender.

"I believe so. Most of my strength is back, so I'll go with.. yes". Zenix truly felt much better, now that he had seen his family.

'Who could it have been? I wonder'.

After his discharge, he went home together with his family. Deep inside he was still puzzled, concerning what had happened to him.

But it couldn't be helped.

Unknown to him, he was taken to the hospital late in the night and had spent the entire night there.

It was 6:00 in the morning, and the entirety of Lore had already woken up. The rising sun shone with magnificence, painting the skies in shades of orange and yellow.

Their mother drove them home in their family RV. It wasn't the latest module with flashy features and designs, but it was one of the best around.

When they finally arrived home, Zenix got down from the car, went into the house and straight into his room.

Crashing onto his bed, his mind felt scrambled, with fragments of his memories hazily surfacing.

However, Zenix simply shrugged it off, not wish to indulge in that painful ordeal anymore.

As he laid sprawled on his bed, he suddenly remembered something, or rather, he remembered someone.

'Come to think of it, where the hell is Xavion?'. He thought to himself.

'All I remember is... we were...'.

Ahhh!

He instantly dropped the thought, as his mind was in shambles. He felt a pain so severe, that his head could split in half.

"What is happening to me? What did they do to my head? Why can't I remember anything? And what's up with this pain?".

All he could do was clutch his head tightly as he wandered.

He then heard a knock on his door.

"Uhm, big bro, are you okay in there? I heard you shout out just now".

Zenix recognized the voice of his younger brother and quickly picked himself up. Trying to suppress the pain, he turned to the door and replied.

"Yeah.. I'm good over here. Need anything?".

"Well, mom sent me to tell you that breakfast is ready. We are all waiting down stairs".

"No problem. I'll be there in a bit, just give me a minute".

He then got to his feet, and looked out the window, to see the radiating sun, beaming through the leafs of the trees in their backyard.

That morning, they ate breakfast together in peace and tranquility. It was more or less like every other morning.

After that, he grabbed his bag and left for work as usual. He paved his way through the busy streets, flooded with never-ending streams of pedestrians.

Gradually, as he closed in on his destination -Dine&Dash-, he caught sight of a young man leaving the restaurant.

But there was a hint of urgency in his steps. He moved with caution, with his eyes never looking up.

The way he moved was unfamiliar, but Zenix could still recognize the underling body frame.

"Huh! Xavion?".
