In this peculiar plane, where boundless white mist obscured all sense of gravity, Jieming led his five Black Giants, who were clumsily piloting temporary flying spell artifacts, as they sped through the air toward the distant horizon.
This plane, discovered by the wizards, was like a rough-hewn gem, utterly defenseless—a plump carcass ripe for the taking. It was the perfect place for wizards to gather rare materials, capture high-quality slaves, and exploit biological resources.
However, the wizards' methods of plundering resources were excessively brutal and efficient, leaving no stone unturned. Jieming, having started his operations a bit late, found himself trailing behind, unable to even get the scraps.
Frustrated, he abandoned the overexploited area and flew further afield, intending to reach a truly "undeveloped zone" before launching his grand plundering scheme.
In truth, Jieming wasn't alone in this strategy. Many experienced wizards had the same idea. Soon, the wizards scattered in all directions, each assigned to a different quadrant, spreading across the plane like a cast net.
As it turned out, this approach proved remarkably effective. After flying in a single direction for over half a month, Jieming had already amassed a considerable haul.
He had captured numerous weightless creatures with extraordinary properties, each one brimming with research value.
One day, while flying, Jieming's eyes twitched slightly.
He lifted his head and gazed in a specific direction.
Just moments ago, his Five Aggregates Rainbow Transformation Mirror had relayed information through its "scouting eye," detecting a massive swarm of flying creatures drifting slowly by several hundred kilometers away.
He immediately altered course, guiding the Black Giant toward them.
Soon, they spotted a group of enormous white "clouds" that blended seamlessly with their surroundings.
These "clouds" looked remarkably uniform, as if a lazy creator had simply copy-pasted them in bulk from an animation.
Each "cloud" emitted the same faint halo and followed nearly identical, ethereal trajectories.
However, these clouds would cluster together, intertwining until they formed a colossal mass of mist, indistinguishable from a single massive cloud from afar.
Upon closer inspection, it became clear that this massive cloud was actually solid!
Occasionally, a "cloud" would quietly extend cloud-like wings from the sides of the giant "mist," wings materialized from pure wind element.
The constant, gentle flapping of these tiny wings propelled the entire cloud-like mass forward.
It was clear these weren't true clouds, but rather a swarm of "Cloud Monsters"—creatures that closely resembled clouds in appearance!
Jieming's eyes lit up at the sight.
Although the rules varied across different planes, certain fundamental principles remained universal.
These Cloud Monsters, for example, mimicked the appearance of clouds and moved together in large groups. This suggested they occupied a relatively low position in the precinct's food chain, making them prey.
While materials from higher-level creatures were generally more valuable, even these lower-tier beings had their uses for Jieming.
...especially for the Black Giant.
"Attack! It's feeding time!"
Jieming commanded the Black Giant through their soul link.
The Black Giant erupted with tremendous energy, surging forward like five wild beasts unleashed, charging straight into the swarm of "clouds"!
In a straight-line charge, the Black Giant's speed was astonishing. In the blink of an eye, it had already plunged into the Cloud Monster swarm.
The Black Giant's massive, iron-black chest and abdomen had split open vertically, revealing a gaping maw that stretched from its throat to its groin!
This colossal vertical fissure exposed the Black Giant's interior cavity, which radiated heat like molten metal.
Most terrifying of all, the edges of the fissure were lined with rows upon rows of terrifyingly black teeth, forged from obsidian and quenched steel!
This vertical fissure was the Black Giant's modified mouth!
What followed was no ambush, but a feast!
"ROAR—!"
With a savage roar, the Black Giants charged into the Cloud Monster swarm, ravenously devouring the terrified "clouds" that scattered in panic!
Their movements were simple yet brutal.
The massive bodies crashed into the Cloud Monster swarm like high-speed meat grinders.
The Black Giants didn't even bother launching formal attacks; the gaping "giant mouths" on their chests and abdomens simply opened and closed repeatedly.
Each bite carried an icy chill and a ferocious tearing force!
Smaller Cloud Monsters didn't even have time to cry out before being sucked into the maw by the powerful suction.
Within that scorching interior cavity, the razor-sharp teeth instantly shredded and devoured them!
The larger Cloud Monsters descended into chaos and panic, desperately trying to retaliate with ramming and biting attacks.
But their feeble resistance was utterly insignificant against the Black Giants.
The Black Giants' massive jaws relentlessly crushed and devoured the creatures, their liquid-like black flames surging even more violently across their bodies.
With each devouring, wisps of pale cyan wind elemental energy flowed into the Black Giants' bodies, rapidly absorbed and transformed by their unique digestive systems.
To accelerate their feeding, the Black Giants' massive hands continuously snatched white Cloud Monsters from the surrounding swarm and shoved them into their mouths.
Jieming floated nearby, seizing the opportunity to casually capture several fleeing Clouds as biological samples.
After sealing them, he stored them in his internal space.
Watching the actions of the five Black Giants in the distance, Jieming's expression turned peculiar.
After all, witnessing humanoid black figures continuously "picking" fluffy white Clouds from a cotton-like swarm inevitably evoked images of some kind of automated agricultural harvester.
"Cough, cough, cough... Hmm... Now's not the time to be thinking about that."
Shaking his head, Jieming began to carefully observe the Black Giants' condition.
He could clearly sense that each Black Giant's energy was continuously increasing after devouring.
Especially the four second-tier Black Giants—their previously stagnant growth rate had begun to accelerate again!
The Black Giants' predecessors, the lava giants, possessed an extraordinary digestive system unlike that of ordinary elemental creatures, a system that could be considered a natural gift.
By digesting the flesh and blood of living organisms, they could provide themselves with energy, accelerate their growth, and even increase their chances of advancement!
Jieming had no intention of abandoning this ability in the Black Giants.
In fact, he had made it even more crucial in their design!
