Chapter 116 - Chapter 111: The Statue Shatters

But before Angmar could catch his breath, a ray shot toward him, piercing through his already scarred and battered arm.

"Ah!" Angmar couldn't help but cry out in pain. He tried to move his left hand, only to find that his entire arm had lost all strength.

At the same time, his right hand suddenly felt a numbing sensation. Opening his eyes, he saw someone raising a greatsword, about to attack him.

It was Weilin Te. Just moments ago, she thought she wouldn't be of any help, but Furan had pushed her forward to block for a moment while she prepared something.

The greatsword slammed heavily against Angmar's neck, leaving a few scratches on the skin, but no blood flowed out.

Angmar took a deep breath. Feeling his strength returning slightly, he grabbed the greatsword and violently swung it outward.

Fortunately, Weilin Te let go in time, avoiding being flung away with the sword.

Seizing this opportunity and ignoring the mace continuing to strike his body, Angmar reached out to grab Weilin Te's neck, intending to hurl her away.

To his surprise, Weilin Te instantly grabbed his wrist, holding on tightly to prevent herself from being detached.

He had originally wanted to throw her aside to stop her from entangling him, but she had instead grabbed his arm, pinning him down.

This was bad. He couldn't lift his other hand, and it would be difficult to release a second [Dragon Breath] in such a short time; he seemed unable to break free from her.

"That's enough, get out of the way!"

Just as he was struggling, a voice rang out. His wrist suddenly felt loose, and he subconsciously flung the other person away; Weilin Te flew back and tumbled to the ground.

He looked toward the source of the voice—Furan—only to see a terrifying sight.

Furan was hovering in mid-air, surrounded by visible currents of air that instantly formed a cycle around her.

"Howling Gale!"

Seeing that the other party had flung Weilin Te away, Furan launched her attack immediately.

In truth, even if Weilin Te were still hanging on, she would have attacked anyway. She could feel the rejection of the Spirit World at any moment; if she didn't cast this Spell now, she would be kicked out of the Spirit World.

So her shout was merely a formality; she wasn't actually going to wait for anyone to get out of the way.

Meanwhile, the 'Half-Dragon People' holding the mace had lost his mind in the heat of battle. Ignoring Furan's warning, he continued to swing his mace down.

The air currents blew toward Angmar, carving countless scratches into the floor along their path.

Angmar squeezed his eyes shut and covered his face with both hands to prevent the wind from damaging his eyes.

Then, he felt as if his body were being torn apart. It felt like countless gashes were being opened all over him, and the itching and pain tormented his mind.

Yet he didn't dare make a sound, fearing the wind would slice his tongue right off. He still had things to say to Furan, so he couldn't allow that part of him to be injured.

Like a gust of wind, it brushed past Angmar's body, leaving his skin covered in bloody gashes and his clothes in tatters, barely covering him.

Beside him, the heroic 'Half-Dragon People' was in even worse shape. He was almost entirely covered in blood, his face was a blur, and the mace in his hand had snapped into four pieces; even the parts that hadn't broken were riddled with pits and gouges.

The entire process produced only a faint 'whoosh.' Only a few noticed it; most only saw a surge of air, after which the two were left in this state.

By this time, Angmar had collapsed and was lying on the ground, with only a faint breath of life remaining.

Weilin Te witnessed this from the side and felt a lingering fear. If Angmar hadn't happened to fling her away, she would have ended up like those two, without a single patch of healthy skin left.

She looked sideways at Furan and was secretly shocked. After casting such a powerful Spell, Furan seemed completely unfazed, not at all like someone who had overexerted herself.

By now, how could she not know Furan's true identity? She was a Formal Mage seeking to obtain a Talent in the Spirit World.

It was absolutely impossible for anyone other than a Formal Mage to release a Spell of such power.

She knew that some Formal Mages would specifically come to participate in trials to obtain Talents in the Spirit World, but she hadn't expected to encounter one herself.

However, she had also heard that the Spirit World would gather these Formal Mages together and have them participate in an extremely high-difficulty trial, rather than mixing them with others.

She saw clearly that most of the participants in this trial were normal Spirit Realm Rangers who hadn't been promoted. Why were they matched with a Formal Mage?

After thinking it over, the only possibility was that the Spirit World had suddenly glitched. The difficulty of this trial clearly exceeded what a normal Spirit Realm Ranger could handle. A First-Tier Professional—how were they supposed to fight that?

But things should be over now. Just by bringing the residents to kill this First-Tier Professional, the assist she had gained would be enough for the Spirit World to take notice of her performance.

She didn't know about the others, but she had certainly passed. As for whether Furan could pass... she knew that would depend on whether this incident was strongly related to the coming disaster. If these priests were the masterminds, then she had definitely passed the trial.

"Seize this High Priest and lock him up here for now. I still have questions for him."

Furan stepped forward and gave orders to the 'Half-Dragon People.'

Having just witnessed Furan's immense power and her defeat of a formidable opponent, the 'Half-Dragon People' did not hesitate for a moment and began working according to her requests.

"Take these two for treatment," Furan said, pointing to Lyle and the 'Half-Dragon People' who had held the mace. She continued,

"Go tell the people outside that the temple of the false god has been taken, and the leader of the heretics has been captured."

The 'Half-Dragon People' followed the assigned tasks and walked out one by one.

Weilin Te slowly approached and whispered,

"Hey, I didn't expect you to be a Formal Mage... So, are you confident you'll get a Talent?"

Furan stared at the statue and replied without looking back,

"No, I feel the real disaster isn't here. Our clash with those priests is an entirely different matter."

Furan's words left Weilin Te a bit confused; she didn't quite understand what Furan was talking about.

She followed Furan's gaze toward the statue and was startled.

Whether it had been hit during the chaotic battle or for some other reason, the statue was now covered in cracks, as if it would shatter at any second.

What made Weilin Te feel a sense of dread was that she felt as if the statue's eyes were watching Furan... She followed that gaze toward Furan, only to find a hardcover book appearing at Furan's feet, emitting a faint light.
