Chapter 82 - Peter's Longing to Grow Stronger and Sandman's Alliance

"Long time no see, Peter. I'm Sandman," William Baker, the Sandman, said slowly, his voice carrying an indescribable weariness as he condensed from sand into human form.

Peter Parker studied Sandman with curiosity and surprise, his eyes sparkling. Then he turned back to Chen Ye. "Wow, another person with superpowers. So why does he know me too?"

Chen Ye smiled, as if he could see through Peter's confusion. He explained, "Why don't you let Sandman answer that yourself? He played a part in saving your Uncle Ben."

Hearing this, Peter's heart stirred.

Though he didn't know who this Sandman was, he had saved his Uncle Ben. This debt of gratitude filled him with warmth and gratitude toward the sandy figure.

Sandman glanced gratefully at Chen Ye, though he had contributed little to the rescue.

This Sandman was also from a parallel universe. When he learned he had arrived in another universe, his first instinct was to find his counterpart there.

He gave his counterpart a sum of money, instructing him to use it to treat his daughter, thereby preventing the tragic accident that would have led to Uncle Ben's death.

But for some reason, when the Sandman rushed to the scene, Uncle Ben still couldn't escape his fate. He lay dead on the ground.

The Sandman froze, unable to believe his eyes.

He had clearly altered destiny. Why was Uncle Ben still dead?

Just as he was about to rush forward to help, Chen Ye appeared and made a deal with him.

Chen Ye hadn't expected to encounter Sandman in this universe. He immediately confirmed he was from another parallel universe, because according to the timeline, Sandman shouldn't have mutated into Sandman until after serving his prison sentence.

Sandman was originally a street thug who, during an escape from prison, accidentally stumbled into a nuclear test site in the deserts of Georgia. Exposed to nuclear radiation, he merged with the sand, transforming into Sandman.

As for why he was imprisoned, Chen Ye stated that he was the one who killed Uncle Ben.

Seeing Sandman, Chen Ye's mind raced with possibilities. Perhaps he could recruit this Sandman to his cause. After all, Sandman had once joined the Avengers, though he later left due to ideological differences.

Chen Ye wasn't worried about Sandman committing evil acts. He knew that most of the people in Hell's Kitchen were far more wicked than Sandman himself. He believed that with the right guidance and restraint, Sandman could become a formidable weapon in his hands.

So, Chen Ye offered Sandman a deal: he would help him rescue his daughter and Uncle Ben from this universe in exchange for joining him in Hell's Kitchen.

Sandman looked at Peter with eyes filled with deep remorse and relief, as if his entire inner world were laid bare.

His low voice echoed in the air, as if carrying the weight of his past: "In a sense, I killed your Uncle Ben."

Peter's heart raced, his anger flaring like a raging fire.

Yet Sandman's next words plunged him into confusion: "But it was unintentional. I'd already decided to abandon the carjacking after hearing Uncle Ben's advice. I didn't expect the gun to go off, killing your uncle."

"I've explained this once before, and the other you has already forgiven me. But I still want to say it again," Sandman added.

*Didn't Uncle Ben die? And what other me has forgiven him?* Peter wondered. *I've never met anyone like that before.*

If Peter had actually met such a person, he would definitely remember. After all, Sandman carried an aura of menace that was hard to forget.

Chen Ye watched Peter's bewildered expression, realizing that Sandman's explanation hadn't made things clear for him.

He decided to explain himself. Slowly, he began, "Peter, do you know about the concept of parallel universes?" Though Peter sometimes seemed a bit foolish, his intelligence was exceptionally high, rivaling that of Mister Fantastic.

Guided by Chen Ye's explanation, he instantly grasped the concept of parallel universes.

His eyes widened in astonishment as he pointed at Chen Ye and the others. "Are you... from a parallel universe?"

Chen Ye nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, we all come from different parallel universes. But I'm not from the same one as them."

He paused, searching for the right words to explain this complex idea.

Finally, he said, "Imagine we're all guests from different worlds, and we just happen to be visiting your universe. As for why they know you, it's because for various reasons, they've all been your enemies. In other words, they're all your enemies."

After hearing Chen Ye's explanation, Peter felt a wave of awkwardness. He never expected to be reintroduced to his enemies in this way.

Yet, an inexplicable excitement surged within him.

This meant that in other parallel universes, he had become incredibly powerful, perhaps even a superhero.

Peter looked at Chen Ye and asked, "Are you... one too?"

Chen Ye anticipated the question and chuckled softly. "You're not worthy of being my enemy, not with your skills. Any one of us could take you down."

Chen Ye was telling the truth. After their family's enhancements, none of the Peters could defeat him.

Peter scratched his head awkwardly, his eyes filled with longing for the parallel universes. "Can I go to other parallel universes like them?" he asked Chen Ye.

Chen Ye's expression turned serious. "Don't think traveling between parallel universes is a good thing," he said. "Let me tell you the real reason I'm here."

For the next half hour, Chen Ye explained in detail why he had come to this universe and the challenges he faced.

Peter listened, dumbfounded. He had never imagined that his world hid such a massive secret.

He felt an unprecedented pressure, knowing that his own universe faced the same crisis.

"What should I do next?" Peter asked urgently, his face filled with worry and anxiety.

He realized the immense responsibility resting on his shoulders; he had to strive to save the universe.

Peter never imagined his universe faced such a grave crisis. If mishandled, it could be destroyed.

For himself, for Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and for Mary,

Peter vowed to save this universe at all costs.

Chen Ye took a gentle sip of his tea, his gaze growing deep and resolute.

He spoke slowly, his voice filled with trust and strength: "You just need to do what you've always wanted to do, Peter. We'll handle the rest together."

"What do you mean?" Peter asked, confused. *At a time like this?* he thought. *Who has the mood to do what I want? Saving this universe is the priority!*

"Uphold justice and eradicate evil. Be a superhero," Chen Ye replied firmly.

Chen Ye believed that once Peter transformed into Spider-Man and appeared in this universe, the remaining villains from the parallel universes would naturally reveal themselves.
