Chen Ye trailed Peter Parker, along the way spotting his good friend Harry and Norman Osborn, who hadn't yet become the Green Goblin.
Chen Ye felt that this version of Harry was truly pathetic. His girlfriend had been stolen, his father murdered, and he himself had been disfigured in an explosion.
He couldn't understand why a rich kid like Harry would be friends with a poor loser like Peter Parker. This was clearly just a movie; in real life, such a friendship would never happen.
Before he knew it, Chen Ye had followed Peter into the exhibition hall.
"There are 32,000 known species of spiders in the world," a scientist explained to the group of young people. Peter and the others listened intently.
"Wow, this is so cool!" Peter exclaimed.
Peter took photos while listening to the scientist's explanation.
Chen Ye leaned against a corner, quietly waiting for the plot to unfold.
Harry nudged Peter. "Want to talk to Mary now?"
Peter shyly shook his head. "No, no. You go ahead."
Clearly, Peter didn't have the courage to approach Mary.
Seeing this, Harry had no choice but to approach Mary himself and strike up a conversation.
"How disgusting," Mary said, her eyes sparkling as she stared at the small spiders. But it was clear she didn't actually dislike them.
"Yeah, such disgusting little things," Harry chimed in, stepping closer to agree.
Watching the two chat animatedly, Peter stood behind them, feeling a pang of resentment.
Moreover, the spider facts Harry was sharing with Mary were all things Peter had just taught Harry.
Peter could only silently lick his wounds. If only he'd been brave enough, wouldn't he be the one teaching Mary about spiders right now?
As their conversation grew lively, only Chen Ye noticed that one of the fifteen spiders in the cage was missing. The missing spider was now clinging to a corner of the ceiling.
Just then, the teacher pulled Harry aside, leaving Peter and Mary alone.
Peter was still timidly standing there, and Chen Ye couldn't stand it any longer. He stepped forward and said, "How about I take a photo of you two? Then Peter can take a separate one of you?" Chen Ye winked at Peter.
"Would that be okay?" Peter looked at Chen Ye with gratitude, then turned to Mary with eager anticipation. This was a rare opportunity for him.
Peter never expected to see Chen Ye again, let alone that Chen Ye would speak up for him. Taking a photo with Mary was something he had dreamed of.
This made Peter's good impression of Chen Ye even stronger.
Mary hesitated, glancing between Peter and Chen Ye, who was holding the camera. In the end, she nodded.
Although it was strange for Chen Ye to suddenly barge in and suggest taking a photo of her and Peter, Mary saw no harm in it.
Under Chen Ye's urging, he quickly snapped the shutter, capturing their photo together.
Peter beamed, now proudly possessing a photo with Mary.
"Seize this opportunity," Chen Ye reminded Peter before returning the camera and walking away.
Immediately after, he received a system notification:

Staring at the Punching Bag Glasses in his hand, Chen Ye felt speechless. The item's description was truly misleading.

*So, Peter really was a loser before he became Spider-Man.*
Seizing the opportunity, Peter asked Mary for a few more photos, while Chen Ye, who had quietly slipped away, doubled back to silently await the moment Peter was bitten by the spider.
Just as Peter was happily taking photos of Mary, a spider slowly descended from the ceiling, preparing to bite him.
Mary's boyfriend, seeing this pathetic loser laughing and joking with Mary, suddenly flew into a rage.
He punched Peter to the ground, inadvertently causing the spider, which should have landed on Peter, to land on Mary's boyfriend instead.
"Ah!!!" A heart-wrenching scream instantly filled the exhibition hall.
Hearing the commotion, the crowd rushed over to investigate.
It was clear the spider had bitten Mary's boyfriend.
He convulsed on the floor, foaming at the mouth.
Mary, standing nearby, was too terrified to speak.
Peter stared at the scene before him in confusion.
Chen Ye calmly sipped his coffee, observing the scene with detached amusement. The spider, meant for Peter, had instead bitten a random extra.
*This extra clearly doesn't have the protagonist's luck,* Chen Ye thought. *He can't withstand the spider's venom and is already lying on the ground, barely clinging to life.*
Chen Ye was curious to see what would happen next, but he kept a close eye on the spider.
If necessary, he could have the spider bite Peter again to get the plot back on track. Otherwise, Chen Ye had no idea when he'd be able to complete the mission and return to his own universe.
However, as if realizing its mistake, the spider swiftly fled the scene after its bite.
He quickly scanned his surroundings for the spider, but the crowd grew denser, and the scene descended into chaos.
Chen Ye closed his eyes and used Observation Haki to track the spider's movements.
Meanwhile, security guards outside the exhibit began evacuating the crowd and sealing the cages where the spiders were kept, clearly fearing a repeat of the incident.
Harry and his teacher rushed back to the exhibit hall upon hearing the screams and were horrified by the scene.
Ignoring Peter, who lay on the ground, Harry immediately rushed to Mary's side and hugged her tightly, trying to comfort the shaken girl with his chest.
Watching this, Peter's anger simmered.
His clenched fists trembled slightly, and the rage in his eyes seemed ready to burn everything around him to ashes.
At that moment, Chen Ye finally spotted the spider in a corner, poised to bite an innocent bystander.
Chen Ye subtly used Chaos Magic to immobilize the spider, preventing it from causing further harm.
He hadn't yet decided whether to control the spider to bite Peter again or to simply take the spider and flee this universe.
*If I take it back for research, I might be able to mass-produce Spider-Men.*
But as he looked at Peter, who was dying from the spider's bite, Chen Ye abandoned the idea.
"What a mess of a world!" Chen Ye couldn't help but exclaim as he surveyed the chaotic scene: Peter collapsed on the ground, Harry embracing Mary—that green-tea bitch.
A thought crossed Chen Ye's mind: *Why not let the spider bite Mary instead?*
He dispelled the Chaos Magic from the spider, but instead of attacking Mary, the creature seemed to have received an inexplicable command and bit Peter directly.
Watching this unfold, Chen Ye could only sigh softly. "Looks like some things are just destined."
*So, the mission should be complete. I can go home now.*
Chen Ye tried to activate his Ring to return, but after waiting for a long time, nothing happened.
He frowned. Could it be that the crisis wasn't over yet?
