At noon, Chen Ye gathered his family for lunch, using the occasion to announce their impending departure.
He was in the kitchen, wearing an apron and skillfully stir-frying fragrant fried rice with practiced ease, looking remarkably skilled.
Deadpool watched Chen Ye cook, his eyes glued to the action. The effortless flips, tosses, and pan-wielding left him completely mesmerized.
"Chen Ye, how will I survive without you! Take me with you! I want to eat your cooking every day!" Deadpool wailed, clinging to Chen Ye's leg. The thought of having to eat Wanda's cooking after Chen Ye left made him shudder. That taste was worse than jumping off a building.
Chen Ye kicked Deadpool away with a weary expression. "Get lost! Hurry up and serve the dishes. Don't worry, when I go to another parallel universe, I'll definitely bring you along."
A few minutes later, the fried rice was plated.
Chen Ye emerged from the kitchen carrying the dish.
The table was laden with a feast of colors, aromas, and textures, making everyone's appetites surge.
"Come on, everyone, dig in!" Chen Ye urged, gesturing toward the table.
No one stood on ceremony. They grabbed their chopsticks and began eating.
"Why did you call us all here today?" Wanda asked first. She had been busy all day yesterday sorting out the assets Uncle Kingpin left behind and was unaware of Chen Ye's impending trip to a parallel universe.
John Wick, Master Ye, and Winston also looked at Chen Ye curiously.
They didn't know why they'd been summoned, but they understood their place. Though curious, they remained silent. Seeing Wanda break the ice, their gazes turned to Chen Ye.
To newcomers like John Wick, Ms. Wanda was clearly the boss's wife.
Only two people knew about Chen Ye's plan to travel to a parallel universe: Pietro and Deadpool.
Pietro and Deadpool exchanged a glance. Pietro immediately buried his head in his food, as if trying to hide his guilt with gluttony.
Deadpool, as calm as ever, continued eating his meal, occasionally glancing at Chen Ye and remarking, "Chen Ye's going to a parallel universe."
"Don't forget to bring me along when you go," Deadpool added.
The group was stunned to hear Deadpool's words, never expecting Chen Ye to depart for a parallel universe so soon.
"That's right," Chen Ye nodded. "I'll be heading to a parallel universe in the next two days. I'm not sure how long I'll be gone, so I want to settle everything before I leave." He noticed Wanda's obvious reluctance and felt a pang of guilt.
Wanda was clearly unhappy. She had just returned and wanted to spend more time with Chen Ye, but he was already planning another long journey. The thought of him venturing into another universe made her frown, her gaze toward him now tinged with a hint of resentment.
"I'm coming with you," Wanda said, mustering her courage after a moment's hesitation. She wanted to be with Chen Ye longer, and she believed her abilities could be useful in an unfamiliar universe. After all, a parallel universe wasn't their territory, and having an extra person could provide backup.
Wanda's words caught Chen Ye off guard. He hadn't expected her to insist on joining him in a parallel universe. This was concerning, as he wasn't sure what unknown dangers might lurk there. If anything went wrong, taking Wanda into such an environment would be irresponsible.
Chen Ye looked at Wanda's stubborn expression and tried to calm the argument with comforting words. "You still need to stay behind to help me handle Uncle Kingpin's affairs," he said. "I'll be back soon, don't worry."
The other people at the table clearly wanted to avoid the boss's and boss's wife's dispute. They silently lowered their heads and continued eating, adopting a "not my business, stay out of it" attitude.
Except for a few individuals:
"Stop arguing! I'm the one Chen Ye will bring with him! Give up, Wanda!" Deadpool shouted loudly.
Deadpool hadn't thought much about it. Single-minded about traveling to the parallel universe, he didn't care who Wanda was—after all, no one could kill him anyway.
Wanda clearly hadn't expected Deadpool to argue with her. In that instant, her Chaos Magic surged, her hair flying wildly and her eyes turning red as she glared at Deadpool.
Seeing Wanda on the verge of losing control, Pietro quickly grabbed her arm, afraid she would destroy the restaurant if she lost control.
Deadpool, seeing this, scrambled behind Chen Ye and whined, "Brother Chen Ye, look how scary Wanda is! I'm so scared!"
By now, Master Ye and the others had already grabbed their bowls and moved to another table.
"Alright, alright, everyone stay put. There's still a mountain of work to do here at Hell's Kitchen. I only trust you guys," Chen Ye said, quickly ending the farce with a sigh.
Just then, the restaurant door burst open, and a striking woman in her thirties, accompanied by a boy of about ten, appeared in the doorway.
Despite her age, the woman maintained a slender figure and a face remarkably unlined by time, exuding an enduring allure.
She asked cautiously, "Excuse me, are you hiring servers here?"
When she saw Wanda's fiery red hair and eyes, and the man in the bizarre Deadpool costume, she grew flustered. "It seems I've come to the wrong place. Sorry to bother you."
She quickly pulled the boy away, thinking, *Of course, everyone in Hell's Kitchen is dangerous. That old lady lied to me.*
She'd been told that this restaurant was the safest place in Hell's Kitchen, and that as long as the owner protected her, she could live safely here.
But now it seemed this restaurant was the most terrifying place of all.
Noticing an outsider had entered, Wanda quickly composed herself.
Chen Ye quickly stepped forward to explain, "Ma'am, that's right. We are hiring here. They were just acting earlier. Don't be afraid."
Noticing an outsider had entered the restaurant, Wanda first glared fiercely at Chen Ye and Deadpool before regaining her composure.
She approached the young woman and the little boy, smiling as she asked, "What are your names?"
She was trying to salvage her earlier image.
The young woman looked at Wanda, finding it hard to believe this was the same intimidating red-haired girl from moments ago. *Her acting is truly remarkable,* she thought.
"I'm May Parker," she replied. "This is my nephew, Peter Parker. Are you hiring waitstaff here?"
Chen Ye nodded with a smile. "Yes, I'm the owner, Chen Ye. We are indeed looking for waitstaff."
Chen Ye never imagined that after sending off a parallel universe's Spider-Man yesterday, today he would be greeted by their universe's Spider-Man.
