"From now on, Wanda will handle everything. Her command is my command."
Chen Ye scanned the group and said gravely, "Meeting adjourned!"
He had just issued orders to a group of menacing figures who looked like gangsters, their faces hardened with ruthless determination. These were Uncle Kingpin's men.
The men dispersed from the restaurant, leaving Wanda standing alone.
Chen Ye approached her and said gently, "Wanda, your task now is to take over Uncle Kingpin's affairs. Don't feel too much pressure."
"You know this is a completely new challenge for you, but I believe you have the ability to handle it."
"Try to discard all illegal operations. Only then can we get the company on the right track and stay true to our original intentions."
"And don't worry too much about the money. We're not short on cash," Chen Ye added.
"I can do it," Wanda replied with resolute eyes before turning to leave for Fisk Tower.
Wanda silently encouraged herself, determined to manage the company well. She wanted to honor Chen Ye's trust and be his strongest support, the only way she could stay by his side.
"You've worked so hard," Chen Ye said, looking at Wanda with concern.
After all, she was just a twenty-year-old girl, having to take over such a large company at this age.
But Chen Ye had no one else to rely on. His other associates were either killers in their fifties and sixties or chaotic figures like Deadpool.
The only competent one, Winston, had already been sent to manage the Continental Hotel.
Chen Ye couldn't even imagine what would happen if he let Deadpool run the company. He'd probably spend all the liquid funds on women.
Just as Chen Ye was lost in thought, a golden ring of light suddenly appeared in the restaurant. The ring spun, its surface covered in eerie runes.
Seeing the golden ring, Chen Ye already had a suspicion.
The next moment, he noticed the space around the restaurant distorting as if glass were shattering. But before long, everything returned to normal.
Seeing that even the Mirror Dimension had been deployed, Chen Ye knew there was only one person who could command such a grand entrance: the Ancient One, the sorceress who had been killed off in the plot due to the prohibitively expensive special effects.
The Ancient One's figure slowly emerged from the golden portal, clad in a resplendent magical robe. Her bald head gleamed brilliantly under the lights.
Her gaze was calm and profound, as if she could see through all things in the world.
"You don't seem surprised at all, as if you've known I would come to find you all along. Mr. Chen Ye," the Ancient One said, her voice steady and measured.
Chen Ye's composed demeanor puzzled Gu Yi.
*Does this man possess precognition? Or is it absolute confidence in his own strength?*
Either possibility piqued her interest.
The Ancient One could sense the future, observing the life trajectories of all beings, past and present. Yet she found that Chen Ye's future remained utterly impenetrable.
Still, Gu Yi was certain this man was indeed from this universe.
"Ancient One, your reputation precedes you."
Chen Ye no longer pretended to be unaware of the Ancient One's identity. He spoke first to show his sincerity, believing she already knew who he was before arriving.
"I've been observing you for a long time. Everything you've done recently has deviated from the future I saw."
"But you've done better. Hell's Kitchen has a brighter future because of you," the Ancient One praised.
"Thank you for the compliment. May I ask why you've come today?" Chen Ye was genuinely unsure of her purpose; he hadn't done anything to harm Earth.
"I'm here to warn you that a knight from another universe recently attempted to descend upon Earth. I stopped him in time. You should be careful," the Ancient One explained. She had noticed that the knight's appearance closely resembled the one Chen Ye had recently transformed into, suggesting he was coming to trouble him.
"Secondly, I need to send a guest from another universe back to his home. That guest is with you," the Ancient One continued, her gaze fixed on Chen Ye.
After hearing the Ancient One's words, Chen Ye quickly asked, "May I ask, Ancient One, what color was that knight?"
The Ancient One paused, then slowly replied, "Pink."
Chen Ye's head spun. That knight was the world's destroyer, Brother Xiao Ming.
Fortunately, the Ancient One had stopped him. Otherwise, who knows what chaos would have ensued if he had entered.
As for the second point, Chen Ye wasn't surprised. He had originally wanted to ask the Ancient One for help himself, but he lacked the ability.
"Thank you for the warning. Shall I call Miles out now so you can take him back?" Chen Ye asked slowly.
"Not yet. There's something else I need to discuss with you."
"Do you know the origin of your guest?" the Ancient One asked gravely.
This guest of Chen Ye's had caused significant ripples across the multiverse, subtly altering every Spider-Man in existence.
Seeing the Ancient One's solemn expression, Chen Ye pondered the impact Miles had brought.
Suddenly, a lightbulb went off. "Are you saying that Miles, who shouldn't have become Spider-Man, is an anomaly, causing events to unfold in other parallel universes that shouldn't have happened?"
After all, according to Miles' life trajectory, he should have become the Prowler, not Spider-Man.
Gu Yi said earnestly, "That's right. There can only be one Spider-Man per universe, and every Spider-Man must experience the pain of losing loved ones. That's the destiny of Spider-Man."
"Moreover, the spider that bit him didn't belong to his universe. It came from Earth-42," Gu Yi explained. "The Peter Parker of that parallel universe died unexpectedly because he never became Spider-Man, leading to the destruction of that universe."
"Problems have arisen in two of our neighboring Spider-Verses. I can't leave Earth for now, so I need you to resolve this," Gu Yi said slowly.
Gu Yi was indeed unable to leave. Too many variables had already emerged, and she needed to ensure the flawless birth of the next Sorcerer Supreme.
She had to keep a constant watch on Earth, as her time was running out.
Finding Chen Ye was because he possessed infinite potential.
"But the destruction of the other two parallel universes wouldn't affect ours, would it? Why should I go there?" Chen Ye asked, genuinely puzzled.
He truly didn't care about the lives of people in other universes and had no desire to take on this task.
"Because they're adjacent universes, their destruction will create spacetime rifts. Some of their inhabitants will come to our universe, just like your guests. These refugees will cause immense trouble for our reality," Gu Yi explained calmly.
She left unsaid the most dire consequence: our universe might be erased entirely.
"If the sky falls, you're here to catch it, Ancient One. Besides, I can't even travel between parallel universes." Chen Ye really wanted to stay out of this mess, preferring to quietly remain in Hell's Kitchen.
Seeing Chen Ye's stubborn resistance, the Ancient One remained unfazed, as if she had anticipated his thoughts all along.
She then tossed a Sling Ring to Chen Ye. "As compensation, I'll teach you how to create portals."
