Conditioning his body, studying the intricate principles of magic, mastering a wide array of charms, and using high-profile dark wizards as sparring partners—while simultaneously amassing a small mountain of gold Galleons.
Goku had spent five remarkably productive months at Hogwarts in this fashion.
As June arrived, a sense of restlessness grew within him. He felt it was time to move on, to step through a new door and pursue a different level of training. On the magical front, he had reached a plateau where further significant progress would require years of patient refinement—especially with high-level curses and transfigurations that couldn't be mastered overnight.
As for his physical training, he had exhausted the challenges the wizarding world could offer; he needed a rival who could truly trade blows with him in an all-out battle to force his next breakthrough.
Furthermore, the one-year mark had arrived. He needed to return home to collect the Dragon Balls and fulfill his promise: to resurrect the soldiers he had inadvertently killed during his Great Ape transformation. He also planned to return a year after that to help Grandpa Dumbledore resurrect his long-lost sister, Ariana.
Dumbledore, understanding the heart of a martial artist and the weight of a promise, did not object. He simply spent several days offering parting advice and cautions.
The only lingering regret was the Animagus transformation. Goku's situation was unique; he wasn't looking to turn into a common owl or a stag, but rather to control and manifest his Great Ape (Oozaru) form at will without the need for a full moon.
Dumbledore had been conducting simulation experiments using Goku's hair samples to modify the ancient ritual, but the success of such a radical alteration remained uncertain for the time being.
Still, Goku left behind a legacy. After a year of grueling "Demonic Training," a small group of dedicated students could now sense the ki within their bodies and were beginning to manifest it externally.
Though it might take years before any of them could fire a Dodon Ray or a Kamehameha, the foundation had been laid. Goku didn't need to worry anymore. For the following year's Ki Magic curriculum, Dumbledore planned to have Hagrid take over; the half-giant could manage a weakened version of the Dodon Ray and was more than capable of overseeing the physical conditioning.
...
Waking up, Goku found himself back in the familiar, silent white space. He didn't turn toward the door leading back to the Harry Potter world as he usually did. Instead, he walked toward the door of his own world and pushed it open.
He materialized exactly where he had left: the cave in the mountains where he had first begun his solitary training.
"First, I'll catch a tiger to fill my stomach," Goku muttered to himself, his stomach let out a thunderous growl. "Then, I'll head to West City to borrow the Dragon Radar from Bulma."
His figure flickered, and within minutes, he returned to the cave entrance dragging a massive sabertooth tiger. He quickly set up a spit and began roasting the beast.
Dumbledore had packed his magical trunk with non-perishable food, but the old wizard had also advised him to save those supplies for emergencies. In these mountains, food was never a problem.
"Flavido!"
Once the tiger was roasted, Goku didn't dig in immediately. Instead, he pointed a finger at the somewhat charred meat and performed a Transfiguration spell.
In an instant, the burnt sabertooth tiger transformed into a gargantuan, golden-brown roasted chicken. Goku knew that a plain tiger roasted without seasonings wouldn't taste particularly great.
While he wasn't a picky eater and could enjoy it regardless, he now had the luxury of magic. If he could turn a bland tiger into the "House-Elf Style" roast chicken he had grown fond of at Hogwarts, why wouldn't he?
Transfiguration couldn't create food from nothing, but it could change one food into another. Even though the "chicken" would technically digest as tiger meat, the experience—the flavor, the texture, and the aroma—was that of a gourmet meal.
"This magic is really handy!" he chirped between giant bites.
...
"Flying Nimbus!!" Goku shouted toward the sky.
A streak of golden light cut through the clouds, and the sentient cloud came to a hovering halt right in front of him. This was the gift Master Roshi had given him.
Under Dumbledore's tutelage, Goku's common sense had improved significantly. He now understood that Master Roshi's warning about using the Nimbus meant he shouldn't use it to be lazy during training—it didn't mean he was forbidden from using it for travel.
As long as he remained grounded during his actual Training, using the Nimbus for urgent transport was perfectly acceptable.
"Nimbus, let's go to West City and find Bulma!"
Goku leaped onto the cloud, and it accelerated to Mach 2.5, streaking toward the west. He arrived at the Capsule Corporation—a sprawling villa the size of several public parks.
Dr. Brief was busy feeding his collection of stray wild dinosaurs when Goku landed. The eccentric scientist looked up through his thick glasses.
"Looking for Bulma? Ah, she's on break and isn't home," Dr. Brief said in his usual slow, nonchalant tone. "I'm not sure where she's run off to this time. That girl just loves to wander."
"Aw, Bulma's not here? What do I do now?" Goku scratched his head. "I need the Dragon Radar to find the balls, and I don't know how to make one."
He briefly considered visiting Fortuneteller Baba to have her locate the balls for him, but before he could call the Nimbus back, Dr. Brief stood up and dusted off his lab coat.
"If it's just a Dragon Radar you need, I can whip one up for you." To the man who invented Hoi-Poi Capsules, a Dragon Radar wasn't exactly high-tech.
Goku's eyes sparkled. "Really?!"
Dr. Brief patted the small black cat on his shoulder and nodded. "Wait here a moment."
Ten minutes later, he emerged from his laboratory holding a brand-new, polished Dragon Radar.
"This is perfect! Thanks, Doc! Tell Bulma I said hi!" Goku tinkered with the buttons and found the interface identical to Bulma's. He could clearly see several glowing dots scattered across the map. He hopped onto the Nimbus and vanished into the horizon.
...
Three hours later, Goku was hovering over a dense, emerald-green forest.
"It should be right around here."
He hopped down from the Nimbus and clicked the radar a few times. A Dragon Ball was definitely hidden in the thick undergrowth nearby. In the past, finding a small sphere in a forest this size would have taken him hours of manual searching.
But now, he had a shortcut.
"Accio Dragon Ball!"
As he spoke the incantation, a four-starred orange sphere burst from a distant thicket, whistling through the air until it landed firmly in his palm. The Summoning Charm wasn't a particularly complex spell, but its utility was undeniable. It could pull the very object he was looking for straight to his hand.
Of course, the distance couldn't be too vast, and the object couldn't be too heavy—and while it didn't work on most living creatures, it worked perfectly on inanimate objects like the Dragon Balls.
Goku grinned at the sphere. "One down! This is going to be way faster than last time."
