...If this really is a dream, then damn it, wake me up already. You're talking about THAT Fast Travel!?
I don't think even the original Gamer System had this function...Is it taking into consideration that I was brought into the MCU, and its scope is much more vast than what The Gamer's story had? That's what I'm leaning toward, anyway.
After all, it isn't just Planet Earth. There's an entire Universe out there, courtesy of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Then you got Doctor Strange and the entire Multiverse to deal with on top of that. Having the ability to instantly move from place to place is very, very handy.
I decided to have a quick review of it. And seeing that it is a function and not a Skill, it doesn't have a level attached to it.
[Fast Travel]
You may return to any place that you have registered on your Fast Travel list.
Registered Places:
-Azure Point (Long Beach, California)
Whenever I make my way to Stark Industries, it will likely register that place too...
I couldn't help but grin, knowing I can move instantly from place to place. And the best part? It's a function. It doesn't require any MP!
"Is everything alright, Sir?", Jarvis's voice called out to me. "You've just been standing near the elevator. Do you still require items to be sent into the penthouse?"
Jarvis's voice caused me to snap out of my train of thought, realizing I wasn't exactly alone here.
So Jarvis stays, eh? Might be problematic at first, but I think I can work with this.
After all, this place is one of Tony's spots. Where Tony goes, Jarvis is to follow, regardless of him being there or not. It may act like a radar, but it'll be something I have to deal with for the time being. Once I get my own place for real, I won't have to worry about that anymore.
I just see this as temporary. I shook my head to Jarvis's words.
"Nah. I didn't come here with anything but my person on me.", I said. I have access to Inventory, something I didn't show Tony yet. I had tossed him his gun afterward, but didn't use the Inventory. The Quest rewards are just directly deposited into it, so I had no reason to bring it up. "Anyway, this is all too real for me. I used to just be a nobody, you know, Jarvis? Then Mr. Stark just wound up and brought me here. He thinks I'm one of his investments."
"It is as you say, Sir. Once Tony finds something he is interested in, he tries to make it worthwhile.", Jarvis said. "No matter what Mr. Stark tinkers with, he tries to do it to the best he can do. And in this particular case, that is you, Mr. Alexander."
"So Mr. Stark doesn't need to have something in his hands to make it the best, huh?", I said, amused. Makes sense. It can either be something tangible or intangible. But once Tony Stark sets his eyes on something, he won't turn it away.
"If you have any inquiries Sir, I am ready and available.", Jarvis said.
"Hmm, let's get that out of the way then.", I nodded. "Before I go see what this place has to offer, drop the Sir act. I know my first name is Myles and all, but you seem to like to call people by their surnames. Just call me Alex."
"...Very well, Sir Alex.", Jarvis complied.
"Drop the Sir part. That makes it way too formal."
"Understood."
"Good.", I said, smiling. Still, I am still in shock just at how exquisitely this elevator is designed...
I quickly shook that thought aside. It was time to explore this penthouse!
To begin with it was twelve freaking floors. TWELVE! It's just like my own hotel, damn it!
The best part? I do not need to check-in anywhere. Even though it was still in 2006, MCU's tech sure is something. Tony already gave me the passcode for the entrance, and it was already wired with an out-of-this-world security system so I didn't have to worry about any break-ins at all. Plus Jarvis is monitoring this building, its layers and layers of security.
I was greeted with that strange sensation again. Not the fact about how much it cost to make this building, nor the technology involved to make it. It was the scope of it. I really am underestimating just how big Azure Point is.
Walking toward the middle of the lounge. Yes, a LOUNGE. I was greeted with tall, glass windows that appeared seamless. This gave me a full look of Long Beach and a long stretch of beach further down. Likely privately owned as well. I...don't have my own beach too, do I? How crazy would that be if I could just head on down whenever I want and take a dip in the ocean...
Still, I saw several upholstered, fancy-bound leather couches that all had a modern look, with low-rise tables placed in their center. Tony's bar that he used to make himself a drink was off to the right side. Behind me was a spiraling staircase that led even further upward where the foyer was. And around the corner to my left was an automatic door that opened up to the roof.
Which, by the way, has a pool. So even if I don't want to wander down to the beach, I can still kick back and relax in what is likely a self-regulated pool. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a jacuzzi or a sauna either.
Aside from the personal bar, the lounge, the outside roof, and the foyer, there was a kitchen that looped around into the back, and a couple of guest rooms, should I bring in some guests. Oh, and remember that one-hundred inch TV? That's the specialty of this lounge. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a room that housed some collectibles of some form either.
"I just want to make sure of something, Jarvis. The master bedroom is all mine?", I asked, wanting to make sure this really was my new reality.
"It is, Alex. Cleaning happens every friday. I would advise against you being in the foyer from noon to one.", Jarvis said.
"Perfect.", I said, only to walk up the spiral staircase and leave the lounge.
Knowing it's 2006, I probably could watch all the cartoon shows I grew up watching back in the 90s. You know, the super old classics like Tom & Jerry. Imagine that on a hundred-inch tv, haha!
But once I arrived at the foyer my mouth was left agape. A double king-sized bed, equipped with everything that you can think of. Without hesitating I just ceased all thoughts and did a big jump. Plop!
An extreme sense of softness began to spread out around my underside as my figure began to slowly sink into the bedding.
"I could get used to this...", I uttered, feeling great just by being on the bed. Guess who is getting the best sleep he ever had tonight?
"The bed has self-regulating temperature, Alex. You can set it to any temperature you would like.", Jarvis explained.
...
I LOVE THE RICH LIFE!
There, I said it. Even if it reaches the intense heat of summer, I could sleep like a baby. Or if I was too cold during the winter, I could make it a cozy spring.
"...Tell me again how much it cost to build Azure Point?"
"Even though you are the temporary tenant until your contract is fulfilled with Mr. Stark, I would advise against you requiring the details of such matters. It can be disclosed, should you truly want to know, Alex.", Jarvis explained.
"Tell me. I'd rather find out sooner than later.", I asked, becoming serious.
"The total investment and construction cost of Azure Point was twenty-five million.", Jarvis answered.
Twenty-five million dollars...
I couldn't help but suck in a cold breath of air as I turned my body around, and faced the rest of the wall before me. It also had a flat screen tv, just smaller in size. To my left was the master bathroom, and an open veranda that gave me another view of Long Beach.
Even twenty-five million dollars is likely but a droplet of water in what Tony spends...
Then, I slapped my cheeks. A resolute look appeared in my eyes.
Let alone becoming a tenant, I wouldn't mind buying this place outright. I earned five-hundred bucks from a Level 2 dungeon. Imagine what it would be like once I started the mid-level grind, or late-game grind in the 50s, or 90s?
Heck I don't even know if the Gamer System's limit is Level 99 for that matter either. It could just continue to level up on its own without limit. I can't remember if Han Jihan ever had a level cap with his Gamer System.
[Ding! You have gained a minor understanding of the Gamer System.]
[Ding! Your INT has increased by 1.]
[Ding! Points Doubler has triggered!]
[Ding! Your INT has increased by 2.]
[Ding! Current INT: 22.]
Would you look at that? Perhaps Level 99 isn't really the end? I'm even more curious as to how this Gamer System will go.
Speaking of which, I still have some loot boxes to open, and that Beginner Pack! I know I've been putting it off, and seeing that it's around noon now, what better way to kick off some lunch than to open some loot boxes?
Before that, a serious look appeared in my eyes.
"Say Jarvis, what I'm about to do doesn't exactly need to stay under the radar from Tony since he can do it too, given the conditions and all, but don't be surprised with what I'm about to do.", I said, becoming serious.
"I've seen many things since Mr. Stark created me. Even though I am in the form of artificial intelligence, I do not think I would be in a state where I would receive surprise. But seeing the confidence in your tone, I would beg to differ. If you have something I have not seen, I will go ahead and make your meals for the rest of the week.", Javis suddenly proposed.
"Very well, Jarvis. Prepare to be amazed."
