The metal chains wrapped around my wrists and my ankles were far too tight. Every single time I tried to tug my hands free, the cold iron bit deeper into my skin. It felt like the metal was trying to cut right through me. I stopped moving for a second, my chest heaving as I tried to catch my breath. The woman had already walked out of the room, taking that scarred man with her. They left me all alone in the pitch-black room, and the silence that followed was even scarier than their voices had been.
