Chapter 1 - Lotus in a foreign land

"Amma, it's not like I'm never coming back!" It's been 15 minutes since her mother was trying to convince her not to go but she was stubborn.

"You're going to a new place, a new world, full of troubles", her mother not giving up.

"You are not going to stop me with that." she chuckled and continued packing her things.

"It's not like we don't have colleges right here." A new voice echoed the room.

Manmayi turned, there stood her grandmother.

"There are people being successful after graduating from our country and you're leaving this place?" Her grandmother questioned.

Deepthi wiped her tears and sided with her mother in law.

Manmayi sighed, "Paati, we talked about this. And I believe you guys agreed to this idea?" Her grandmother scoffed and left the room.

Something was indeed different.

Will she miss all of these ?

But she's moving somewhere for own interests and she couldn't fight that.

Satya, the big brother entered the room with Hari, the younger brother, on his shoulders.

She is the middle child or should I say the forgotten one?

"I'll drop you off at the airport" Satya managed to form a sentence.

"I wanna join!" Hari exclaimed.

"NO YOU WILL EXPLOIT MY SAVINGS!" Satya screamed, creating a delicate smile on Manmayi's lips.

"You will be the first to be thrown out of the house when I'm rich." Hari warned.

"Dude I'm 24 and you're 8. And I'm moving out anyway." Satya reassured.

Before this fight took another step Manmayi dragged both out of it.

After bidding her good bye. She left with her brother to the airport.

"You are gonna be alright? Because I won't be there to defend you and try not to make problems with your annoying little self" She scoffed.

"Are you comforting me or insulting me?" She rolled her eyes.

"Good thing you can't tell." His own words ignited a good laugh on him that followed a good punch from her.

"I'm driving!"

"I don't care!"

With a heavy heart, she walked towards the airport. Did she cry?

Well, after all they were family.

A long flight of 10 decent hours and 25 minutes she landed in Incheon international airport.

Hectic and tired.

She wished to sleep like a child in a math class.

Hiring a taxi and informing him where to, it started moving.

For the first few minutes she was on her phone letting her family know that she was safe and tired.

Then when her eyes wandered, she saw the huge skyscrapers and the green peaking between the buildings, huge roads and billboards.

Her long hair welcomed the refreshing winds of the Seoul city.

Closing her eyes she memorized her home and her people.

The wind stopped, she opened her eyes and looked around and realized they were in traffic.

But suddenly her eyes darted to a billboard which boasted about the young CEO.

"What a man but can't seem to smile ugh" literal judgement was painted on her face.

She shrugged.

Little did she know, in the same thread of time, the guy from the billboard was clearly next to her car.

His dark windows didn't let her have her eyes on him and he too didn't fell right for her.

But he noticed she was different from all these Koreans, well that's because she was not Korean.

She had these curly or wavy, he asked himself, hair and her eyes were big and her skin glowed when the sun complimented her.

She was pretty, he accepted but too busy to think about girls all in all, he turned his head towards his screen.

Busy again.

"Here we are" the taxi driver reassured her.

She jumped out paid him and thanked him too.

Dragging all her luggage to a studio apartment will be the second toughest thing she did after convincing her Amma and Appa to let her go to a different country.

Jumping right into the bed, she didn't even care to change or even organize the luggage, too tired for all those, she slept, like a school student in a math class. Peaceful and effortless
