Lynn watched as the Spell he fired shot straight toward Tom's body.

The next second, the expected explosion and impact did not occur on the other's body; the Spell passed through Tom's body without any resistance.

Bang! Rumble—!

A deafening explosion rang out in the Chamber of Secrets, followed by the clattering sound of a large amount of rubble falling and rolling.

The Spell hit the base of the massive Slytherin stone statue behind Tom.

Lynn: "..."

He looked at the "results" of his Spell, then at Tom, whose figure seemed to fluctuate slightly before quickly recovering. He understood instantly—the Tom before him was not a solid entity but a projection relying on the diary; the Spell would likely have limited effect.

The interrupted Tom's face was so gloomy it looked like it could drip water.

"Very well! You have successfully... angered me."

He no longer maintained that hypocritical elegance, and a hissing sound came from his mouth: "Sss~ (Kill him! My servant, show your power!)"

"Sss~ (Overtime! Damn it! Overtime again!)" An impatient hiss came from inside the Slytherin statue.

The next second, a head covered in dark green scales poked out from the statue's mouth.

It was that corporate slave of a Basilisk!

The moment the snake's head poked out, Lynn squeezed his eyes shut and rapidly retreated to the side and back!

He did not dare look! He absolutely could not look into its eyes!

Almost at the same time he closed his eyes, a system notification sounded:

[Ding! Mission issued! Rescue a thousand-year-old Basilisk that has been cursed by a Dark Arts forced contract and enslaved for a long time.]

[Mission Reward: Stagnant Gaze]

[Effect: The target you gaze at with full concentration will gradually feel their physical movements become heavy and sluggish, and their thinking will also become slow.]

[Death at a glance? Not quite, not quite~]

"Humph!" Tom let out a cold snort. "Do you think you can survive just by closing your eyes? Naive! Sss! (Kill him! Tear him apart!)"

The Basilisk finally slithered completely out of the statue's mouth, its massive body rubbing against the ground with a heavy rustling sound.

It opened its bloody maw and, accompanied by a foul wind, lunged fiercely toward Lynn's position!

[Peters Jolt] was warning frantically, sending waves of crisis.

Relying on this extraordinary perception and ultimate control over his body, Lynn dodged, rolled, and ducked at the last possible moment, narrowly avoiding the Basilisk's lunges and its sweeping giant tail time and again.

Rubble splashed around him, and the ground was dented by the Basilisk's impact.

"Go back! Stop! Obey my command!" Lynn issued orders to the Basilisk during the gaps in his dodging, attempting to seize control.

However, the Basilisk only hesitated for less than half a second before its attacks became even more violent.

Tom's laughter rang out, full of pride. "It's useless! Its body is branded with the oldest Dark Arts curse contract; it will only obey the true heir of Slytherin—which is me! Give up your struggle and die in peace!"

Carrow, who was bound like a zongzi on the ground with his mouth sealed, also twisted excitedly, making "Wooo wooo~" sounds, clearly echoing the sentiment of "Die!"

Tom glanced at him with disgust: "Shut up, you useless fool! If you cannot even break a restraint of this level, how can you claim pure-blood glory?"

After another thrilling slide along the ground to avoid the Basilisk's slamming head, Lynn suddenly kicked off the ground and jumped, landing precisely on the Basilisk's rough, cold back, his hands tightly gripping the edge of a protruding scale to steady himself.

Sensing something on its back, the Basilisk became even more frenzied. Its body twisted violently as it tried to shake Lynn off, while it turned its head back, its giant mouth biting down once more!

Even with his eyes closed, Lynn could feel the foul-smelling airflow and the chill of the sharp teeth cutting through the air.

Now!

While clamping his legs tightly around the snake's body to secure himself, Lynn pressed his wand firmly against the Basilisk's hard scales.

"Silver Glow Circulation!"

Buzz—!

A large patch of soft, bright silver light suddenly erupted from the tip of the wand.

The silver glow spread rapidly, enveloping the Basilisk's massive body and penetrating the gaps between its dark green scales.

The Basilisk, which had been twisting frenziedly, noticeably stiffened. Its vertical pupils seemed to flash with a hint of confusion and... relief?

The Basilisk stopped trying to roll violently to shake Lynn off, and its aggressive posture softened. It just swayed its head slightly, making ambiguous hissing sounds.

Standing to the side, Tom, who had been prepared to enjoy watching his prey being torn apart, saw the pride on his face instantly freeze, replaced by unbelievable shock.

"This... what kind of magic is this?" He had never seen a Spell with such an effect. It was not a powerful attack, nor was it a common restraint or beast-calming Spell, yet it acted directly on the Basilisk's "state" affected by the curse.

Refusing to believe it, he ordered again, "Sss! (I command you! Continue the attack! Tear this intruder apart!)"

The Basilisk's head turned toward Tom.

This time it did not obey; instead, it tilted its head and emitted a series of hisses, which translated roughly to:

"Sss~ (Overtime my ass! I'm quitting! If you want to go, go yourself!)"

After saying that, it really did go "thud" and rested its head on the stone floor. Its thick body relaxed, coiling into a bunch, and the tip of its tail even tapped the ground leisurely.

It even turned its head and gave a slight hiss toward Lynn on its back:

"Sss~ (I'm off the clock. You two can fight however you want, just don't disturb my rest. Can this silver light shine a bit longer?)"

Lynn: "..."

Good grief, "Silver Glow Circulation" is actually a mandatory leave notice. The effect is way too immediate!

Feeling that the Basilisk no longer had any hostility, Lynn carefully slid off its back and landed steadily, facing Tom's direction.

Lynn cleared his throat and beckoned with his finger toward Tom:

"Yo? Can't command it anymore? Why don't you hit me? Come on, hit me~ Weren't you quite capable just now? Is this all there is to the heir? Tsk tsk, could it be... you're out of steam?" Lynn even shook his head exaggeratedly, making regretful "tsk tsk" sounds.

Tom's face instantly flushed red, veins bulging on his forehead. Whether as Tom Riddle or Lord Voldemort, when had he ever suffered such blatant humiliation?

Extreme anger caused the poise he maintained to completely shatter.

"You forced my hand!" he roared.

He knew he could not rely on the Basilisk anymore, and his manifested form had limited offensive power.

His gaze suddenly turned to Carrow on the ground, who was still struggling with "wooo" sounds, his face practically screaming, "Master, save me and kill him while you're at it."

Black mist flashed from Tom's hand. He suddenly reached out, his fingers grasping the air, aimed at Carrow on the ground.

"Say goodbye to your 'classmate,' you fool! Your life will become the sacrifice for me to recover my strength!" he shrieked.

"Ah!!!—No! Master! Mercy!!!" The Silencing Charm was forcibly broken by Tom, and Carrow let out a heart-wrenching wail.

His body twitched violently, his complexion turning gray at a visible rate as strands of life energy were forcibly extracted from his body and flowed toward Tom's palm.

As the energy was absorbed, Tom's figure seemed to become more solid, and the aura radiating from him also grew stronger.

Lynn frowned, looking at Caro's rapidly shriveling body and Tom's enjoying expression. He felt no emotion and even wanted to laugh:

Really? Which eye of his saw that I was on good terms with this idiot Carrow? Using him to threaten me? Lynn even felt Tom was draining him too slowly, wasting time, and considered whether to "help" him out with an "Imperio" to liven things up.

Of course, just a thought.

Seeing that Tom had almost finished absorbing, with Caro's breath now as thin as silk and Tom's momentum gradually climbing, a smile of total control reappeared on his face as he prepared to deliver a victory speech—

Lynn could not be bothered to watch his performance any longer.

His gaze had long since locked onto a black diary lying quietly on the ground in the shadow of the Slytherin statue's base, not far behind Tom.

That was the main body, the core!

"Too much nonsense," Lynn muttered, waving his wand casually.

A cluster of Fiendfyre, with a temperature so high it distorted the surrounding air, ignited out of thin air above the diary and then lunged down, completely engulfing it!

"No—!!!" The pride on Tom's face instantly turned into boundless terror. "How did you know?! You cannot—that is—"

He could not even finish his last words.

Under the terrifying heat of the Fiendfyre that could burn anything, the diary instantly turned to ashes.

At the same time, Tom's figure went "poof" and turned into a cloud of black mist, completely vanishing into the air.

Lynn extinguished the Fiendfyre and walked over to Caro.

This Slytherin student, who had been arrogant just a few minutes ago, now had hollow eyes and had clearly kicked the bucket.

Lynn quickly assessed the situation: even if Dumbledore came now, in this state, he would likely be beyond help. This was truly... great!

Lynn reached into his pocket and pulled out a Phoenix feather.

Dumbledore had given it to him last year while they were visiting Vault Alley in Switzerland, and Lynn had never used it.

Now, it seemed like the time it would be "useful."

Lynn no longer hesitated and activated it.

Immediately after, Lynn took a deep breath and shouted a sentence into the feather:

"Principal—!!! Help—!!! Someone's died here—!!!"
