Through his glasses, Lynn closely tracked the shadow in the pipes that represented the Basilisk.

It moved very quickly, and in moments, it reached a room on the second floor—and then... suddenly, it vanished from the X-ray vision of the glasses.

It was... quite abrupt.

Lynn raised an eyebrow, but his heart felt at ease. This "disappearance" confirmed that the entrance to Salazar Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets was 98% likely to be in that room.

Following the direction in his memory, Lynn chased all the way to that area on the second floor, finally stopping before a door—the sign on the door read "Girls' Lavatory," with a scrawled "Out of Order" sign next to it.

Lynn: "..."

He stood at the door, his expression rather speechless.

Salazar Slytherin, one of the founders of Hogwarts, known for being noble and shrewd, left the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets... in a girls' lavatory?!

Lynn felt that the image of this ancestor had undergone an irreversible tilt in his heart.

This choice of location was truly hard to call "proper."

Lynn quickly glanced down both ends of the corridor.

Good—on Christmas night, there wasn't even a wandering ghost. Truly "not a soul in sight."

Lynn pushed the door open with a clear conscience and slipped inside.

The lavatory was dimly lit, with only a row of old sinks lined up silently.

"Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets... where could it be?"

Lynn whispered to himself, his gaze sweeping over the dusty tiles, cracked mirrors, and closed stalls.

As his gaze swept past an old sink, his peripheral vision caught a detail on a faucet—there was a snake head on it.

Shouldn't this thing be in the Slytherin common room?

Wait... Slytherin... snakes... Basilisk... Parseltongue.

Lynn stopped in front of the snake-head faucet, a thought occurring to him: did his [Language Mastery] count?

Worth a try.

"Open!"

The moment he spoke, the snake-head faucet flashed with a faint light.

Immediately after, the entire sink began to rumble, and the stone tiles at the bottom and edges started to rotate, sink, and move aside, revealing a circular hole about a meter in diameter—bottomless.

"It actually worked!"

Lynn's eyes lit up, and he put on his glasses again, trying to see the situation inside the hole.

However, all he could see was a blur of distorted images and darkness.

"Hmm... as expected of Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets, the shielding is quite thorough. It's pitch black, and I can't see a thing." Lynn curled his lip and put away his glasses.

So, here came the question: to jump, or not to jump?

Jumping down meant voluntarily entering the Basilisk's home turf, facing that behemoth, and possibly "Tom" hiding in the shadows.

A head-on clash? Lynn weighed his repertoire of spells and physical fitness—whether he could win... was hard to say. After all, the Basilisk's size, strength, and lethal gaze were top-tier threats.

But... running should be no problem.

"Since I'm already here..." Lynn muttered, "wouldn't it be a wasted trip if I didn't see 'Tom's' new home? If I can't beat him, can't I at least outrun him?"

Lynn cast several protective spells on himself, checked his wand and the various "gadgets" in his pockets, and then, without further hesitation, took a leap and jumped into the bottomless dark hole.

The sensation of weightlessness hit him instantly. Lynn pointed his wand downward and silently cast the [Cushioning Charm], [Braking Charm], and [Feather-Light Charm] in succession.

His falling speed slowed abruptly, and he finally landed silently on the ground.

This was a rough stone tunnel, the air cold and damp, filled with a stale smell and the scent of fishy water.

Slimy moss clung to the tunnel walls, and the sound of dripping water could be heard faintly in the distance.

Lynn gripped his wand, a steady light glowing from its tip, and began to explore forward cautiously.

The tunnel wound downward with few forks, but it had clearly been abandoned for quite some time.

After using [Language Mastery] to pass through a sealed door, the scene before him opened up.

No longer a narrow and cramped tunnel, it was replaced by an exceptionally wide path.

On both sides of the path, massive stone snake heads were arranged neatly, their mouths wide open to reveal sharp stone fangs, their eyes staring at the center of the road.

At the end of the path stood a statue of Salazar Slytherin that almost reached the ceiling of the cavern.

Right beneath the base of that giant statue stood a figure wearing Slytherin school robes.

The person had their back to the entrance, seemingly looking up at the statue, immersed in some sort of emotion.

Lynn narrowed his eyes, finding the back and hair color somewhat familiar.

"Carrow?" Lynn called out tentatively.

The figure spun around abruptly—it really was Cassius Carrow. When he saw Lynn, a flash of shock crossed his face, quickly replaced by an expression of disdain.

"Oh~ look who's here~" Carrow drawled. "Isn't this our Order of Merlin, Third Class recipient, Mr. Lynn? What? Were you scared by the great heir of Slytherin and couldn't help but chase him here to pay your respects? You lowly Mud—"

Before the word "blood" could leave his mouth, Lynn's spell had already been fired.

The Langlock hit Carrow's mouth with precision, turning all his subsequent words into muffled whimpers.

At the same time, Lynn waved his wand again, instantly transfiguring the scattered pebbles and dust on the ground into several sturdy ropes, which bound the unreacting Carrow tightly with a whoosh.

Lynn didn't bother wasting words with him. He stepped forward, the tip of his wand pressed against Carrow's forehead.

"Save your performance. Where's Tom? Tell him to come out. I know the real heir isn't you; you're just a clumsy watchdog at best."

Anger first appeared on Carrow's face, but when he heard the name "Tom," he clearly froze, confusion showing in his eyes.

Tom? Who was Tom? Wasn't the heir his great master, Lord Voldemort?

Just then—

Tap... tap... tap...

The sound of footsteps came from the shadows behind the Salazar Slytherin statue, getting closer.

A figure slowly stepped out of the shadows.

It was a wizard who looked only sixteen or seventeen years old, with neat black hair and a handsome face, wearing well-fitted, old-fashioned Hogwarts robes.

"Truly surprising," the young wizard spoke, "after all these years, someone actually remembers... that long-abandoned name of mine."

He slowly raised his hand, as if about to give an elegant speech.

"However, for you, who are about to witness the restart of history, perhaps a more appropriate title should be used—please call me, Vol—"

"Confringo!"

Lynn didn't wait for him to finish at all; a powerful Explosion Charm flew straight toward Tom's face.

"What are you babbling about?! Take an Explosion Charm first!"

Lynn's thought was simple and direct: why waste words with a guy who was clearly about to give a long-winded villainous speech? Hit him first! It would be best to blow him away—but even if not, it would break his rhythm!
