Zoomie had not even left the field when her limiter began to buzz with an unknown contact flashing above it.
Tapping on accept. She heard an unknown voice call out from her limiter.
"Is this Mrs Zoomilous", the person spoke.
"Yes," Zoomie reply.
"You're speaking to a Hypirex officer. We've just apprehend a colleague of yours named Rushina for possession a limiter who's dampeners her been illegal altered"
Zoomie froze upon hearing what the voice just said. Her heart began racing and breathe grew heavy.
"We need you to come to our station for questioning,"
"Yes," Zoomie tried her best to steady her breath and speak coherently. "Of-of course".
"Good, we're sending the location to your limiter right now,"
The call then ended.
She seconds later her limiter pinged with the exact location of the station. She then wasted no time, darting off at full speeds.
Hypirex, the enforcers of Kinerikans, they were in charge of maintaining the peace all across Kinerik. Each of them bore special gear three limiter that allowed to mover far beyond the speeds of the average Kinerikan.
Their jobs were simply, apprehend, detain, and see to it that any person who breaks the law or disturbs the peace on Kinerik was punished. And in Kinerik they very few instance of any serious form of crime, except from one. The one who's punishment was a fate all Kinerikan dreaded most but was the most committed in Kinerik.
Overclocking or hacking your limiter.
Zoomie, after running across the entire city finally arrived at the station. Out of breath she looked up at the station. Bead of cold sweat forming on her face as she hoped and prayed to Yaseki that Rushina was alright. She then entered.
Once inside, she felt the air grow stale and cold around her. Inside were filled with officers wearing special Kinerikan armor with the symbol of a shooting star etched on its center with limiter that flashed with the digits ranging from two to three.
She could feel the weight of their gaze pressing down at her, feeling them as they trailed down to her limiter causing her to instinctive cover it up. She tried taking a single step forward but her feet felt too heavy to move.
Her heart felt heavy and lungs suffocating as they continued to stare.
She then bowed her head and crushed her hands in to trembling fists.
This wasn't the first time she had felt this way.
"Daddy"
Her mind flashed back to the very first time she had come to a Hypirex station. That when they took her father away for using an illegal hacked limiter.
She was just a child at the time and she had to watch them take him away in right in front of her.
"Mrs Zoomilous," Zoomie flinched upon hearing a gruff hard voice call out to her.
She then raised her head and met the gaze of tall large elderly man with grey hair and beard, and narrowed looking down at her. He wore Hypirex armor along with the limiter that flash the number '3'.
"Yes," she spoke soft, feeling the weight of his eyes pressing down at her.
His eyes then locket on to her limiter and audible left his lips upon seeing the single digit flash.
"Come along, let's get this over and done with slugha," he spoke with a rough voice as he turned his back to her.
Rushina just hung her hand, her hands wrapped around her limiter, and followed the man.
He led her to a quiet empty room with a single light source at the center which just shone bright enough for the lone metal table and two chair below it to be visible while everything else was cover in a haze of darkness and shadow.
There Zoomie took a seat with man seated across from her, staring at her with annoyed look on his eyes before turning to his limiter.
"Alright," he sighed. "Let's get this over and done with,"
He then brought a small device and pointed to Zoomie before activating it.
A ping then came from her limiter before it locked itself.
Zoomie then looked down at her limiter, a wave of dread and terror watching over as felt her entire grow stiff and heavy. Her speed had been seal away.
"Standard procedure. Just to be safe," he spoke with even making eye contact with her
"Zoomilous gear 1" he spoke as he activated the limiter.
A holographic display then appeared over the limiter showing all of Zoomie's information, from her age, height, to place of work, residence, and communal route and routine.
"Wow, surprisingly you have decently clean record," he spoke as scrolled over her information.
"Er…sir," she spoke hesitantly. "What about Rushina?"
"You friend? She detained in one of her cells. I've managed to get story from her on how her limiter was hacked. However…" he paused as he came across something interesting in Zoomie's information.
"Is there some kind of problem?" asked Zoomie with a worried look on her face.
A sly smirk the crossed his lips.
"No, it's nothing. It's just that before we charge Rushina with anything we first need to corroborate her story to make sure everything line."
Zoomie felt uneasy as she listen to the officer's words. Feeling pit going down as stomach as she watched the grin his face widen.
"An investigation needs to begin and crucial information need to be gathered," he then tapped on the holographic display.
Then image of her father, cover in frost and ice being led in the station why an officer then appeared over his limiter.
Zoomie's eyes trembled upon seeing the image.
"Such as a friend with history involving hacked limiters," the man spoke with a weigh in his voice shook the cold stale air around them.
