SLOANE
I was already on the phone with my father before we'd even left my mom's apartment.
"Bryce's sister has been kidnapped. Mira Carter. Three and a half hours ago, maybe less."
"The Omega's sister." Not a question. My father's voice was sharp. Alert. "You made contact?"
"More than that. I made the deal."
Silence on the other end. Then: "He agreed?"
"Yes. He's mine now. Completely." I glanced back at Bryce sitting in my mom's living room, looking shell-shocked. "Which means his family is pack business."
"Understood." My father's tone shifted immediately. All business. "I'm sending forty wolves. Best trackers, best fighters. They'll be there in fifteen minutes."
"I need—"
"Everything. I know. You'll have it." He paused. "Sloane. Bring them home safe. All of them. We protect our own."
"I will."
He hung up.
I turned back to find Bryce staring at me. Really staring. Like the reality of what he'd just agreed to was finally sinking in.
