Ava's Pov
Leon got ready quietly, barely speaking, only stopping to ask if I was okay.
I told him I was.
He didn't push it, but I could tell he didn't have the energy to.
Before he left, he mentioned his plan again. It made me understand what had him so restless.
"I figured something out with Emily for Caroline," he said, adjusting his watch. "I think it'll work."
"That fast? Are you sure about it?"
"No," he said honestly. "But I need to know. And Emily did a good job on the documents so she probably won't suspect."
"I think it's a good idea," I replied. "At least this way, you're not just guessing."
"Yeah."
"Do you think she'll pass?"
"Honestly, no. But I'll be holding on to hope."
He stepped closer, pressing a quick kiss to my forehead.
"I'll call you later," he said.
"Okay."
I watched him leave, waiting until I heard the car drive off before I let myself relax.
