It had now been more than twenty hours since Bravo Team had gone missing without a single report.
Finally, Chief Brian called Lieutenant Marvin into his office.
"Any new information on Bravo Team?" Brian asked.
After all, Jill had already persuaded him with some extra money, so he figured he should at least make an effort to look into the situation. Besides, if something happened to S.T.A.R.S., it could damage his reputation badly—especially if the entire team ended up dead… or worse.
"Bravo Team lost contact around 11 p.m., and so far we haven't received any further reports on their status," Marvin replied.
"In that case, dispatch Alpha Team immediately—and get in touch with Wesker. I want him to report to me at once," Brian ordered.
"Yes, sir," Marvin said with a quick nod before leaving the office to find Wesker.
After Marvin left, Brian returned to his hobby—taxidermy, working on one of his latest hunting trophies.
But even as he focused on it, his thoughts drifted elsewhere… especially toward what might be happening in the Arklay Mountains.
He knew very well that Umbrella had been conducting countless illegal experiments there—the kind that could explain all the strange incidents surrounding the area.
Maybe I should start preparing a way out of this city… just in case something bad really happens, Brian thought.
Not long after, Wesker entered Brian's office to discuss the mission ahead.
Of course, Wesker already knew Bravo Team's exact situation—they were inside the Spencer Mansion, fighting against the B.O.W.s within. He had been monitoring everything through Umbrella's hidden CCTV.
Honestly, he was a bit impressed. The fact that Bravo Team had managed to survive that long against those monsters wasn't something just anyone could do.
"You want me to bring Athena into this mission too?" Wesker asked, raising an eyebrow.
He didn't quite understand why another person needed to be added to the team. Still, it caught his interest—Athena had once been invited, along with Jill, to join S.T.A.R.S. as a candidate, but she had refused back then. So her sudden decision to join now was… interesting.
"Yes. And don't ask why—I'm not going to answer that," Brian cut him off. "With more people, the search for Bravo Team will be easier."
"…Fine," Wesker muttered, adjusting his sunglasses, "You're the boss here. I can't really argue with that" his tone calm but slightly mocking.
With that, Wesker stood up, put on his shades, and walked out of the office—his thoughts already shifting toward the mansion.
.....
As night began to fall, Wesker gathered all the members of Alpha Team. Once they were assembled, he gave a short briefing about how the mission would proceed.
"All right, that's all from me. I hope you'll be ready to pack your things for the mission to find Bravo Team," Wesker said before stepping down from the podium.
"Jill, aren't you supposed to be on leave? And also, Miss Winter, nice to meet you. My name's Barry Burton—you can just call me Barry," Barry said, welcoming Jill's return.
"Barry, just call me Athena—or Thena. Besides, my husband and Jill often talked about you at home," Athena replied in a casual tone.
"Hahaha, okay, I hope what Allen said about me were good things," Barry said, trying to joke a little to lighten the atmosphere, though in truth he was a bit worried about the other team members.
"Hey Jill, isn't it a problem for you to join this mission, especially since you're pregnant right now?" Chris asked as he joined their conversation. He couldn't understand why Jill would dare put herself at risk for this mission.
"Don't worry, Chris, I can take care of myself," Jill answered confidently.
"Fine, but don't hesitate to ask the other team members for help if you end up in trouble, okay?" Chris said, shaking his head.
Jill's stubborn attitude really reminded him of his younger sister, Claire—and that always made Chris a little worried.
He could only hope Claire would listen to him… and stay away from this city in the future.
"Also, don't worry. I'm sure Allen and the others are fine over there," Chris said, understanding why Jill was so determined to join the mission. After that, he quickly gathered his gear. The others did the same, this time bringing more equipment, fully aware of how dangerous the Arklay Mountains could be.
Among the Alpha Team, only Athena carried something unusual. At her waist hung a compact rod that could extend into a spear, along with a pistol and a shield. The others couldn't help but feel confused seeing her choice of weapons, but no one questioned it. The way she carried herself… it felt like a goddess had stepped onto the battlefield.
Not long after, Alpha Team departed by helicopter, heading toward the Arklay Mountains. Following Bravo Team's last known signal, they tracked the coordinates near the railway area close to a mansion.
"Captain, I've got a visual on Bravo Team's helicopter. It looks like they crashed," Joseph reported, clenching his fist as worry crept into his voice.
The others saw it too, sharing the same concern. Jill grew tense, her anxiety rising, while Athena stayed close, trying to keep her calm.
"Alright, we land here. Then we continue on foot and track their position," Wesker ordered.
The helicopter touched down not far from the crash site. Once they disembarked, they quickly checked the wreckage—but found no one inside.
"There's nobody here… did they leave on foot?" Chris muttered after inspecting the helicopter.
A small sense of relief spread among them. At least there was still hope.
But then… a foul, rotting stench began to fill the air.
Joseph, who had wandered a bit too far, didn't notice the zombie dog lunging at him from behind.
"Joseph, behind you!" Barry shouted, raising his gun—but hesitating to fire.
Joseph turned, eyes widening in horror. "Aaahhh—!"
He shut his eyes, bracing for the impact.
But… nothing happened.
When he opened them again, a spear had already pierced through the zombie dog's skull, pinning it to the ground.
"WTF… why is it always me?" Joseph muttered, frantically checking his body, still shaken.
Athena stepped forward gracefully, pulling her spear out with effortless elegance. For a moment, the entire team fell silent—her presence alone was overwhelming, like a war goddess standing among them.
"Thank you, Athena… you saved me," Joseph said, still dazed.
But then reality hit him—she was already Allen's wife.
That thought alone left a bitter feeling in his chest.
Athena simply nodded, her gaze turning sharp as she looked into the distance.
"Get ready… more are coming."
Moments later, more zombie dogs emerged from the trees, snarling as they rushed toward them.
"Everyone, stay together! Don't spread out!" Wesker ordered sharply.
Alpha Team immediately regrouped, forming a tight defensive formation.
Bang!Bang!Bang!
Gunfire echoed through the forest as they unleashed a barrage of bullets. One by one, the monsters dropped, unable to withstand the team's coordinated attack.
After several intense minutes, the last of the creatures finally collapsed.
From behind his sunglasses, Wesker observed everything calmly. He was satisfied—his glasses were recording valuable combat data.
"Move. Don't waste time," Wesker said, glancing at his tracking device. "I've got a signal from Bravo Team to the east."
The team pushed forward without hesitation.
But suddenly—the sound of a helicopter roared above them.
They looked up, only to see their pilot flying away.
"Damn it, Brad! What the hell are you doing?!" Joseph shouted in frustration.
But it was useless—the helicopter had already disappeared into the distance.
"Forget it. Let's keep moving," Chris said, patting Joseph's shoulder, though he was clearly annoyed as well.
Meanwhile, Wesker remained silent.
This unexpected situation… actually worked perfectly for him.
"Let's move. It's not safe to stay here too long," he said coldly, leading the team deeper into the forest—straight toward the Spencer Mansion.
....
While Alpha Team was still exploring the Arklay area, Allen, Svetlana, and Rebecca were currently inside the hidden laboratory located within the Mansion.
Their journey here hadn't been easy, as they had to get through several obstacles such as puzzles and other dangerous zombie mutants. However, those obstacles weren't much of a problem for them, as Allen and his team were able to break through each barrier by force. Some of the Mansion's doors were even broken down by Svetlana's kicks, while others exploded from bombs set by Allen to blow them open.
Now Allen was still busy extracting various medicines that might be useful to create an antivirus that could be needed later.
Rebecca was very impressed with Allen's ability to make medicines and wanted to learn more from him. Of course, Allen was happy to explain the important details in making the antivirus.
"Hmmm, Allen, we were only able to make 4 antiviruses. Is this enough?" Rebecca asked, holding the small bottles of antivirus and securing them inside her bag.
"Well, I hope this is enough, because with the remaining ingredients here, this is all we can make right now."
Anyway, they didn't actually need the antivirus themselves, since their immune systems were already strong enough to naturally overcome the virus. The problem, however, was with their teammates, who might be injured or infected by the T-virus.
The reason Allen didn't carry a stock of antivirus was because the T-Virus would keep mutating, so the previous antivirus wouldn't necessarily work if their teammates were reinfected. That's why Allen had to take new samples and keep updating the antivirus.
Not long after, Allen and the girls decided to look for the members of Bravo Team.
On their way, they found traces of Bravo's battle—there were many monsters in the area that had already been killed by them.
"Are they all right?" Rebecca asked, a little worried about her teammates.
"I hope so. At least we haven't found their corpses yet, so there's a high chance they're still alive. Besides, they're an elite team that has already completed many missions and are very experienced," Allen said while holding Rebecca's hand.
Rebecca nodded when she heard that, while Svetlana had been silent the whole time, focusing on observing their surroundings.
As they walked into a hall, they entered a grand room with European-style interiors, feeling as though they were inside a medieval castle on the second floor.
But behind the fireplace, a strange noise could be heard.
Scratch
Svetlana, hearing the screeching sound, became alert and pointed her weapon.
"Is that a spider?" Allen asked.
"No… the sound is like a snake," Svetlana replied.
And then the sound moved to the ceiling area.
Allen moved closer to Rebecca to protect her.
Not long after, Svetlana loaded a grenade round into her launcher, ready to fire.
PungBoom
The ceiling area exploded, and a giant snake fell down, writhing after being hit by the blast.
The snake roared, trying to lunge at them.
But Allen was already prepared with his RPG and fired straight into the snake's mouth.
Boom!
A stronger explosion shook the room, and the snake's head instantly blew apart.
Svetlana turned speechless while staring at Allen—instead of weakening the creature with bullets first, he had immediately used heavy artillery.
"Why are you wasting ammo from the most powerful weapon?" Svetlana asked in disbelief, arguing with Allen.
"What? Come on, that was a pretty huge monster, isn't it normal if I use an RPG to take it down? Besides, I just didn't want to waste time fighting some weird creature—better to use the strongest weapon we have," Allen said while reloading his RPG with his last missile.
Their argument was enough to make Rebecca smile at the moment, amused by their antics.
