The Lion's Den
The doors opened with a slow, mechanical hiss.
Eliza stepped out of the black SUV into a world that looked nothing like a prison—
but felt far worse.
Glass walls. Marble floors. Silent guards.
Victor Hale's headquarters.
A kingdom built on secrets.
"Welcome," Victor said calmly, walking beside her, "to the place where truth disappears."
Eliza lifted her chin. "Not for long."
Victor smiled faintly. "We'll see."
The Cage Without Bars
They led her into a room.
No chains.
No locked doors.
Just cameras.
Everywhere.
"You won't run," Victor said. "Because you understand something important."
"And what is that?" she asked.
"That running is pointless."
Eliza sat down slowly.
"You're wrong," she said.
"I'm not trapped here with you."
Victor raised an eyebrow.
"You're trapped here with me."
For a second—
Even Victor didn't speak.
Then he laughed softly.
"I like you," he said. "That's why I haven't killed you."
Mind Games
Hours passed.
No food.
No sleep.
Just questions.
"Who else has the data?" Victor asked.
"No one."
"Where is the backup?"
"Gone."
"Who are you protecting?"
Eliza smiled faintly. "Everyone you're afraid of."
Victor's expression hardened slightly.
He stepped closer.
"You think you're strong," he said quietly.
"But strength breaks."
Eliza looked straight into his eyes.
"So do monsters."
The Truth About Her Mother
Victor placed a tablet in front of her.
A video played.
A woman.
Eliza's mother.
Alive.
Eliza froze.
"No…" she whispered.
"She worked for me," Victor said. "Until she betrayed me."
The video showed her mother arguing.
Crying.
Refusing.
Then—
Darkness.
The video cut.
Eliza's hands shook violently.
"You killed her."
Victor didn't deny it.
"She chose the wrong side."
Tears streamed down Eliza's face—but her voice didn't break.
"Then I'm proud to be her daughter."
Victor studied her.
And for the first time—
He saw something dangerous.
Aaron's War Begins
Far from the glass towers—
Aaron stood in the ruins of the burned studio.
Around him—
People gathered.
Mara.
Lillian.
Survivors.
Fighters.
Even Nova.
Aaron faced them.
"We don't rescue Eliza," he said.
"We destroy Victor Hale."
Nova stepped forward. "I can get us into his system again—but only once."
"Once is enough," Aaron said.
Lillian added, "There's a hidden entrance under his building. Old construction tunnels."
Aaron nodded.
"We go in from below," he said.
"And we don't stop."
Nova's Redemption
Later, Nova approached Aaron.
"I messed up," she said quietly.
"Yes," Aaron replied.
"But I can fix it."
He looked at her.
"Why should I trust you?"
She swallowed. "Because I hate him more than I betrayed you."
Silence.
Then Aaron said:
"One mistake… and I won't hesitate."
Nova nodded. "Fair."
Inside the Mind of a Monster
Back in the tower—
Victor sat across from Eliza again.
"You still haven't asked the most important question," he said.
Eliza wiped her tears.
"And what's that?"
"Why I kept you alive."
She leaned forward.
"Because you're afraid of what I know."
Victor smiled.
"No," he said.
"Because you remind me of myself."
Eliza felt a chill.
"That's the worst thing you could ever say."
The Hidden Move
Later, alone—
Eliza carefully slid her hand into her sleeve.
The pendant.
Still there.
Still safe.
She whispered to herself:
"This ends now."
She walked toward a camera.
And smiled.
Not fear.
Not pain.
But something else—
Defiance.
The Countdown
Underground—
Aaron loaded his weapon.
"Tonight," he said.
Above—
Victor poured a glass of wine.
"Tonight," he said.
And in the center of it all—
Eliza closed her eyes.
"Tonight," she whispered.
The war was no longer coming.
It had arrived.
