Chapter 27 - Unexpected

Season Two

Part Two

In the middle of the battlefield between the Kingdom of Ars and the Kingdom of Arlin, unexpected things had begun to happen.

Monsters of an entirely different level had appeared. Even our king, Kaith Azthiron, was unable to stop them.

I am now trying to survive this thing. It is a demon that tears apart everything standing in its way.

That much is obvious.

There is a group of idiots who see it as an angel. It is a strange, distorted creature that sends chills down my spine whenever I look at it.

It appeared through a gate made from the remains of a dragon, and you see it as an angel? Have people lost their minds, or have I gone insane?

Wait...

No...

Stop... stop, please!

...

Blood and corpses were scattered throughout the battlefield, covering every corner simply because this strange demonic creature had moved through it.

And in the middle of this chaos...

Kaith slowly stood up as he treated his wounds.

He looked toward Gilgamesh, who had been waiting for him for quite some time.

Gilgamesh: "What do you think is the best solution, Kaith?!"

Kaith: "There are two answers. The first, like any sane person would choose... is to run. And the second... since we are kings, we have to fight."

Gilgamesh (proudly): "I like how aware you've become of your responsibilities, Kaith."

Silence fell for a few seconds.

Then Kaith answered with arrogance:

Kaith: "Just don't die, old man."

Gilgamesh: "You're amusing, you little brat. But your words aren't entirely wrong."

Kaith: "Try to be a little more optimistic. Who knows, Uncle? Maybe we'll win."

Gilgamesh: "Enough talking. Let's move."

Then...

Something began to appear in the middle of the battlefield.

A dragon with brilliant white scales...

Its body was mixed with golden skin.

It possessed four golden horns and two enormous wings.

Gilgamesh: "Can you do it, Kaith?!"

Kaith: "Of course."

Kaith began to transform into a dragon.

Two enormous wings began emerging from his back.

His body began to grow larger.

Black scales covered his body, blending with his golden eyes.

A black tail emerged behind him.

Gilgamesh (astonished): "This looks more like a hybrid transformation between a human and a dragon than a complete dragon, because you're still standing on two legs."

Kaith: "Honestly, yes. I can't fully control the complete transformation yet."

Then the two of them charged toward that monster.

But it paid them no attention.

Gilgamesh cut off one of its wings.

However...

The wing regenerated at an incredible speed.

And the response was brutal.

The monster released a strange beam toward Gilgamesh...

It shattered his wing.

Gilgamesh crashed to the ground in pain, unable to regenerate.

As for Kaith...

The monster was about to cut him apart without stopping.

It turned toward him...

And released the same beam.

But Kaith avoided it because his size was smaller than Gilgamesh's.

The monster then began releasing a black aura that drained souls.

Then it fired an enormous beam that was impossible to avoid.

Gilgamesh (his face turning pale): "Kaith... move away."

Gilgamesh rushed directly toward Kaith.

Then...

It began to rain.

Something fell from the sky.

A body covered in blood.

It crashed into the ground with tremendous force.

And then...

It moved toward him.

Kaith: "..."

Kaith's body began trembling.

Kaith: "Gilgamesh... No... Don't die, Gilgamesh."

Silence fell for a few seconds.

Gilgamesh spat out blood.

Gilgamesh (smiling): "Don't worry, you little brat... I'm fine..."

Gilgamesh spat out even more blood.

Kaith looked at the blood that had come from Gilgamesh's throat.

He looked back at him and said:

Kaith: "No... You're not fine... Why aren't you regenerating? Gilgamesh, answer me?!"

Gilgamesh looked at Kaith...

Then he looked toward the sky.

He whispered:

Gilgamesh: "Perhaps... this is the feeling they call death...?"

He spat out blood.

Gilgamesh: "It really is painful."

Kaith: "What are you talking about, old man?! You're not going to die."

Gilgamesh looked at Kaith one last time.

Then...

He closed his eyes.

And his soul left this body.

Silence.

Kaith: "..."

Tears began falling onto that empty body.

Until...

Existence itself began to crack.

Four golden horns appeared...

And white hair.

It was Rainehardt.

Rainehardt witnessed the scene.

Then he said with deliberately cold composure:

Rainehardt: "I'm very late."

Kaith turned toward him.

He fired a fireball at Rainehardt.

Rainehardt did not block it.

He simply took the attack.

Silence.

Kaith stood on his feet.

Then...

He punched Rainehardt directly in the face.

Kaith (heartbroken): "Where were you?! Where did you go?! If you had stayed, he would still be alive right now! But you left us... You left us behind!

I hate you, Rainehardt."

Rainehardt: "I'm sorry, Kaith."

Kaith (without even looking at him): "Your apology won't do me any good. In the end, your apology won't bring anything back to me."

Rainehardt: "I know! But I'm truly sorry."

Kaith: "Let's get rid of this bastard first. After that, save your apology.

That's why...

Don't die before then."

Rainehardt looked at Kaith.

Rainehardt: "I promise you I won't die.

I'll stay by your side, Kaith.

And that is a promise."
