[IRIS POV]
I felt strangely at peace. My body was floating in a cool body of water, and I felt it wash away all my pain and exhaustion as though it was nothing more than an inconvenient food stain. I felt renewed and refreshed. If this were my afterlife, it was a good sign. Strength flowed through my limbs.
A cool breeze drifted around me, causing my nose to twitch. The alpine scent of the trees was calming, and the fresh mountain air made me feel at peace.
But all of a sudden, there was a new, yet familiar scent that caused my brow to furrow in confusion and distaste.
Caius was here? No, that was impossible. I was dead, and I refused to spend my afterlife with him.
I gingerly peeled open my eyes, blinking away the blurriness. The face that hovered above my own slowly came into focus.
It was Caius, with a look of abject worry on his pale face.
Immediately, I felt a scowl form on my lips. Why was he invading my afterlife? Was tormenting me in one lifetime not enough?
