The car had already driven some distance, but Lu Xize's answer was still the same.
Chu Yao's brow furrowed. Qin Ningning, sitting in the back, took in the situation and didn't dare make a sound.
The car fell utterly silent. Chu Yao looked at Lu Xize as something suddenly flashed through her mind, but it was gone before she could grasp it, leaving only a strange feeling in its wake.
It seemed Lu Xize also realized he had lost his composure. His expression shifted, but he remained silent.
When the car stopped at a red light, he finally turned to Chu Yao. Ignoring the fact that someone else was in the back seat, he reached out, took off her sunglasses and hat, and leaned in to kiss her forehead. "If we'd run into reporters, would you have wanted to make headlines again tomorrow?"
Lu Xize's tone was no longer as harsh, as if he were explaining why he had just forced her into the car.
Chu Yao was still frowning. "But that person really could have been..."
